TRUMP WASN’T INVITED

I stood next to Barack Obama the day he was sworn in back in 2009. So watching him open his presidential center on Thursday meant something special to me. Every living former president was there—Clinton, Bush, Biden. Donald Trump wasn’t invited.
Obama never said Trump’s name—he didn’t have to. He spoke instead of the values that hold a democracy together. Among them, that “our military and law enforcement owe allegiance not to any president or political party, but to the people and our Constitution.”
He warned against a government that treats itself as “a way to divvy up the spoils, and punish enemies, and keep those who are different in their place.”
Michelle Obama drove it home: “Failing to see the humanity in people puts us all on a slippery slope.” And no one, she said, gets to decide who is “American enough.”
The center is a library, a basketball court, a garden where kids will play. Built to outlast Trump.
SLOTKIN DRAWS THE LINE AT THE BALLOT BOX

Trump won’t rule out putting soldiers at your polling place. But this week, Sen. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan moved to make sure he can never do it.
Her bill is called the Protect Our Polls Act. It exists because Trump keeps telling us, out loud, what he intends to do. Last month, asked directly whether he’d send troops to the polls for the midterms, he wouldn’t rule it out. “I’d do anything necessary,” he said. He’s already sent agents to seize ballots and voter records in Arizona, Georgia, and Michigan.
Since the Civil War, no president has put armed troops between you and your ballot. Slotkin is making sure it stays that way. Because Trump only wants soldiers at your polling place for one reason—he’s terrified of losing Congress. He should be.
22 DOCTORS CAN’T MAKE TRUMP HEALTHY

It took 22 doctors to certify that Trump is in “excellent health.” Twenty-two—enough to fill a hospital ward, for one annual checkup, on a man the White House swears has never felt better.
On Thursday, Rep. Jamie Raskin asked the obvious question: who are these 22 doctors, and what exactly are they treating? The White House won’t say. Not their names, not their specialties, nothing.
Here’s what we do know, because Trump said it himself. He takes four times the recommended dose of aspirin—against his own doctors’ advice. His hands bruise so badly they’re often covered in makeup. His legs regularly swell. “That does not sound like a patient in ‘excellent health,’” Raskin wrote.
Raskin demanded the records be released, under oath—because no one needs 22 doctors and a wall of silence to prove they’re healthy.

The regime tried to rip 900 scientific instruments out of the ocean—sensors that track flooding, hurricanes, and the currents that drive Earth’s weather. This week, after massive public pressure, they were forced to back down.
In May, the regime’s National Science Foundation announced it would tear apart the Ocean Observatories Initiative, a $386 million network designed to run for 25 years—and it’s only a decade old. The excuse? Saving money. The cost? Blinding the country to dangers that hit everyone in the path of destructive weather.
Then the backlash hit. Scientists, fishermen, and coastal towns refused to let the regime wreck a program we paid for. They raised so much hell that the Senate passed a bill to stop it—every senator, Democrats and Republicans.
By Thursday, the regime caved—and the gear they’d already torn out is going back in the water.

As a senior, I no longer have a living dad but if I was to personify what a dad should do and say, I would say Barack Obama has the qualities I admire. He courteous, kind, well spoken, humble, talented!
My own dad, a World War II veteran, as he put it, just a grunt. But a grunt who earned a bronze star as an army guy in the Pacific and some of the worst fighting on some of those islands. It wasn’t very big but he was tough, except he had a heart so big he would often cry!
Holy cow, Scott. I always cry at the good news. I cry with relief imagining the regime can be stopped by the good people of this country, and I cry with hope that the regime WILL one day be over. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there!

One of the first Constitutional Amendments we need is one overtly stating that a sitting President can be indicted and if for a felony, must step aside until adjudicated. If convicted he is automatically removed. And no one already convicted of a felony, even if overturned, can ever hold any public office. Edit: changed never to ever. Never was a double negative.
The current nincompoop should never, ever have been elected in the first place... I believe 2016 and 2024 were 'rigged' in his favor, corrupted by nefarious and wealthy silent operatives in the background. The REAL deep state.
It's all good, of course, but that ocean sensor thing was the most important in my book. Removing them would have killed a lot of people.

Contradicting speculation, these doctors were likely highly skilled that have managed to keep a SICK OLD MAN breathing and little else.

You wanted to know about the "fathers" in my life. There are two that immediately come to mind.
The first is my son (like you didn't see that one coming LOL). In spite of his divorce from his daughter's mother when his little girl was only a year old, he was an ever-present father and never shirked his duties - or his joy - at being a dad. His "little girl" graduated college last month and his love for her, and his pride in her, was palpable as he watched her receiving her diploma. My pride and love watching him throughout his years of "fatherhood" was just as strong.
The second "father" in my life is my son-in-law. There wasn't a single day in his now adult children's lives that they uttered one negative thing about him - not because they feared reprisals, but because they truly loved and respected him. He taught them about loving and caring for others. He taught them a strong work ethic by example. He taught them respect for others even though their opinions differ from theirs. He taught them how to be a MAN (or WOMAN, in his daughter's case). He taught them that no matter what they did - good or bad - his support and love for them never wavered. And he taught them what a parent, husband, and friend should be. But, most of all, I know how much he loves my daughter and how much she loves him.
So much time, so much buffoonery.

Did they call the representatives, did they make a human wall on the beach? I’m really trying to understand how we, the public can be effective.

It was a multi-pronged approach on multiple fronts. Lots of people contacted Congress. That was the main pressure point for sure. Scientists did a PR campaign doing interviews on local and national news. State and local officials applied direct pressure. Oregon’s bipartisan Legislative Coastal Caucus sent a formal letter to the NSF on June 17—the day before the reversal—urging them to halt the removals. There was an international push too with the EU announcing them expanding ocean monitoring which led to more pushback. All that pressure is what gave Merkley and Murkowski the standing to move their bill (the “Save Our Sensors” / Saving the OOI Act), which passed the Senate by unanimous consent on June 17. The NSF reversed the next day.

My Dad is on my mind this Fathers Day, even though he's been gone for more than 20 years. He married my mother, a widow with a toddler and an aging mother who could no longer work, but took care of me, while Mom worked. He took us all, and we were his family until the day of his death. He was a bit of an Archie Bunker, but loved his country, and was proud of fighting for her, in WWII. He would have spat in the face of the cowardly quisling who is now in the Oval Office.
He worked hard, and taught his grandchildren a work ethic they have not forgotten. He grew the most delicious yellow and green beans in our backyard garden. He loved me and I loved him. He wasn't rich, or famous, or influential in the world. Just a hard working guy with a lunch box - bologna sandwiches every day, because that's what he liked. I still love you, Dad, and I still miss you, even though I am now old and ready to go, myself.
