The FCC just threatened to revoke ABC's broadcast licenses in retaliation for Jimmy Kimmel's most recent jokes at Donald Trump's expense. And if history is any guide, ABC's parent company, Disney, will respond by handing Trump a big fat bribe — or this time they might give in to Trump and fire Kimmel.
This is the state of the corporate media today: Complete authoritarian capture.
Here at Common Dreams, we have no broadcast license to revoke, nor do we have corporate bosses seeking the blessing of Trump.
As a nonpartisan and nonprofit news organization, our independence comes directly from the fact that our funding comes directly from people like you — not corporations.
But today we have a serious and urgent problem. Our Spring Campaign is falling woefully short of our make-or-break goal, and we're now running out of time.
To be clear: If our support evaporates, so does our journalism. So please, if you can, chip in any amount right now to defend independent media and keep Common Dreams alive and strong.
