Bresnahan’s corruption has affected her friends and neighbors. Door after door, Rhina is hearing from lifelong conservatives who are fed up with politicians who are out of step with her community. These working class communities are also feeling the war’s effect on gas prices and on their wallets. But their U.S. House representative doesn’t care. The day Trump ordered strikes in Iran, Bresnahan tweeted out his full support.1 You only need to follow the money to understand why. Bresnahan has been one of the biggest stock traders in his short time in Congress, and time and time again his stock trades have been seemingly tied to votes he took on the floor.2 He has stock in the fossil fuel companies profiting from skyrocketing gas prices.3 And he’s been trading in AI, which is now deeply tied into military activity.4 Rep. Bresnahan is using Trump’s war in Iran to make himself richer, while his constituents in PA-08 struggle with higher gas prices and fear their family members being deployed overseas. Getting Rep. Bresnahan and his self-dealing out of Congress would be a huge win for his constituents. But one district alone isn’t enough to flip the balance of power away from extremists and Trump loyalists. We need to be doing this in as many districts across the country as we can.
