With Tax Day just around the corner, it’s time to tell Congress: raise at least $1 trillion a year over the next decade by making the ultra-wealthy and big corporations finally pay their fair share of taxes.

To do that, we’re calling on Congress to adopt four common-sense priorities, to ensure billionaires and ultra-wealthy elites will pay their fair share:

  • Tax income from wealth like income from work, along with closing tax loopholes and strengthening IRS enforcement.

  • Raise corporate tax rates, end tax breaks from stock buybacks, and strengthen rules so corporations that make huge profits can no longer get away with paying little or no federal taxes.

  • Limit the dynastic wealth of oligarchs by reforming the estate tax, eliminating loopholes, and taxing billionaire wealth gains from massive financial speculation.

  • Invest the revenue into programs for working families, such as healthcare, housing, childcare, a fully refundable Child Tax Credit, and restoring funding for critical programs like Medicaid, SNAP, and the ACA.

These straightforward steps are rooted in a basic principle: everyone should contribute their fair share to the country we all share together.

Send a message to Congress: we’ve had enough billionaires siphoning off economic gains while leaving the working and middle class holding the bag. It’s time to tax the rich and make life affordable for everyone.

Over the past several decades, this principle of fairness has been steadily undermined. Billionaires and giant corporations have spent enormous sums lobbying Congress to reshape the tax code in their favor: securing special loopholes, carve-outs, and preferential treatment that allow vast fortunes to go lightly taxed or untaxed altogether.

The result is a two-tiered system. Teachers, nurses, construction workers, small business owners, and families across the country pay taxes out of every paycheck. Their contributions fund schools, roads, hospitals, disaster response, and programs that help millions of families stay afloat; yet these workers also face rising costs for housing, healthcare, and childcare, with wages that have not kept up.

Meanwhile, America’s 935 billionaires have watched their combined fortunes grow to over $8 trillion, exceeding the total wealth of the lower 50% of Americans, as they benefit from rules that treat income from wealth far more generously than income from work. Tax Day should remind us of a simple truth: a strong country depends on everyone pitching in.

Tell Congress it’s time to close the loopholes, tax the rich fairly, and invest in the people and communities that make this country thrive.

Thank you for standing up for working people everywhere.
