I have dedicated my life to sharing America’s greatest stories through films. They examine crucial moments in our nation’s history and the threats to our democracy. These stories are not easy.

That is why I am reaching out. Alex Vindman—who I first met in 1983 while filming my documentary, The Statue of Liberty, when he was seven—is running for the United States Senate. Alex is an amazing American and a true fighter for what is right. He’s a man of character.

When our country needed a soldier, Alex Vindman stepped up. Alex served 21 years as a U.S. Army combat veteran and was awarded a Purple Heart after being wounded in Iraq.

When our democracy needed somebody to say no one’s above the law, Alex Vindman stood up. He honored his oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Now, Alex is ready to take our fight to the United States Senate. There is no one who will fight harder for us than Alex Vindman.

But there is no doubt that the special interests will spend whatever it takes to keep their preferred candidate in the Senate. The only way we can stop that is by ensuring Alex can mobilize and share his message with every possible Florida voter.
