This week we learned that an Afghan interpreter named Mohammad Nazeer Paktiawal, who spent years working alongside American Special Forces in Afghanistan, was taken by ICE without explanation and within 24 hours he was dead in a Dallas hospital. Let me say this: → The only reason I survived Afghanistan and came home to my family is because of my interpreters. → On one of my tours in Afghanistan, we operated 500 miles from the nearest American base with a small team — No air support, and nobody coming if things went sideways.  → One day in a remote village, our interpreter Mohammed felt something was wrong and told us to get out of there quick. → Five minutes after we cleared out, 65 Taliban fighters showed up looking for us. We later learned that Taliban leadership had personally identified me as a kidnapping target because of how isolated we were. That’s why this news has my blood boiling, because this man saved the lives of our service men and women, came to America looking to build a better life, only to be snatched up by Trump’s ICE thugs and left to die in ICE custody.
