I write with the sense of urgency this moment needs as we head toward a government shutdown. Things are picking up. Trump’s authoritarian behavior is getting more extreme, and in many cases, it’s spiraling out of control. The resistance is growing louder and stronger. Days feel like weeks, weeks feel like years, and months feel like lifetimes with the behavior of this regime. It’s a precarious time indeed. But I’ve never felt more confident in the resiliency of the resistance. The state of this movement is strong. Before I go on and talk about the impending government shutdown, I want to make one quick ask of you this Sunday. We are almost certainly heading toward a government shutdown in a little over two weeks. The GOP is refusing to even talk with Democrats about the budget, let alone negotiate. It seems Donald Trump wants a shutdown to try and blame Democrats for his crashing economy. Democrats saw how pissed-off voters were last time when they allowed Republicans to fund Trump’s authoritarian regime. A key issue, among many, for Democrats is that Trump and the GOP are about to let the ACA premium tax credits expire, which would raise premiums by 18–23 percent on people’s ACA plans. I am going to make sure I get all the relevant stakeholders on the network to keep you posted on what’s happening. A few other data points. I am going to be making videos today on how the former European allies of the United States are no longer making big defense purchases from the United States since they don’t trust Trump. I am going to do a video on the new footage showing how ICE in Chicago lied when it said it killed a man because he dragged the ICE agent in a car. I am also doing a big video piece showing how the FBI and Fox are colluding to push a false narrative that Kirk’s killer was “radicalized by trans ideology.” Finally, I want to give a shoutout to Meidas Canada, which has continued to run sold-out shows across Canada all week. It’s incredible to see Meidas Canada take off so quickly, and it’s a testament to the great leadership of Charlie Angus and his team, and to the incredible Maple Meidas movement of Canadians who have led the international resistance.
