Trump toured the plane, which is so opulently configured it is known as ‘a flying palace,’ while it was parked at the West Palm Beach International Airport in February.” … “WH counsel's office and DOJ drafted an analysis for SecDef Pete Hegseth concluding that is legal for the DOD to accept the aircraft as a gift and later turn it over to the Trump library, and that it does not violate laws against bribery or the Constitution's prohibition (the emoluments clause) of any US govt official accepting gifts ‘from any King, Prince or foreign State.’” … Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT): “This isn’t a good idea even if the plane was being donated to the US govt. Witkoff met with Putin in Moscow for several hours on Feb. 11, on March 13, and in St. Petersburg on April 11, and used their translators.” … “A short video of the meeting released by the Kremlin shows a smiling Witkoff entering the room alone before he shakes hands with Putin, who is also broadly beaming. Witkoff does not appear to be accompanied by any advisers or experts who typically support American officials conducting delicate and complicated negotiations. As a woman joined Witkoff on his side of the table, he pointed at her and said, ‘Interpreter? From the embassy? OK.’” … Former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul: “This is a very bad idea” that put Witkoff “at a real disadvantage. I speak Russian and have listened to Kremlin interpreters and US interpreters at the same meeting, and the language is never the same. At the end of every meeting that I attended, I debriefed the interpreter to make sure we heard everything correctly. He has the president's total trust and he's 100% loyal to the president. He's doing what the president has asked." … When JD Vance was first asked about the escalating conflict between India and Pakistan on Fox, this is what he said: "We're not going to get involved in the middle of war that's fundamentally none of our business and has nothing to do with America's ability to control it.” … Then Vance got hit was a heavy dose of reality from the real world instead of his MAGA social media echo chamber. CNN: “A core group of top US officials had been closely monitoring the escalating conflict between India and Pakistan when on Friday morning, the US received alarming intelligence. They said it was critical in persuading the 3 officials that the US should escalate its involvement.” … Trump, naturally, claimed credit for a ceasefire: “After a long night of talks mediated by the US, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” … But it turns out even though we got involved belatedly, Trump’s bid for the Nobel Peace prize is premature. NYT: “India contradicts Rubio, saying the cease-fire was worked out directly between India and Pakistan, and that there had been no decision to hold talks on any other issue at any location.” … CNN: “Rubio had been calling people in the region beginning Tuesday during which he began learning of the parameters both sides wanted in a ceasefire. But the admin left the finer details of the agreement to India and Pakistan to work out directly with each other. The Trump admin was not involved in helping draft the agreement, the admin officials said, and viewed their role mostly as getting the two sides together to talk.” … ABC reported that the ceasefire didn’t last long: “India has accused Pakistan of breaking the ceasefire. India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed a ceasefire agreement had been reached, but accused Pakistan of violating it Saturday evening. He called on Pakistan to act to stop the violations to avoid escalation along the border, and says that India is "giving an adequate and appropriate response." … India's chief minister for the territory of Kashmir and Jammu, Omar Abdullah: “There is no ceasefire. The air defense units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up.” … NBC: “US officials have ordered spy agencies to ramp up efforts to gather intelligence on Greenland. The move has drawn objections from Denmark. Ukraine should agree to this, IMMEDIATELY. At least they will be able to determine whether or not a deal is possible, and if it is not, European leaders, and the U.S., will know where everything stands, and can proceed accordingly!” … Garry Kasparov: “Everyone already knows! Trump rushes to abandon his own and Europe's ceasefire deadline, which Ukraine already agreed to, to embrace Putin's latest bullshit and pressure Ukraine into worthless negotiations. Those hired prior to 2014 generally contribute either 0.8% or 3.1%, while more recent hires typically already contribute 4.4%. The plan would also base retirees’ pension payments on their avg highest 5 earning years, instead of highest 3 years, which could reduce benefits by thousands of dollars annually. … The plan also has an even more insidious provision that will dramatically impact new hires - imposing an additional 5% financial penalty on them unless they agree to give up civil service protections, which would allow them to be fired at will by current and future administrations. … Politico reported that Trump has sat for just 12 daily briefings so far during his term. He has received just two in-person intelligence updates per month in the first quarter of 2025.
