Donald Trump was asked on Meet the Press whether he needed to uphold the Constitution as president of the United States.
His response? ‘I don’t know.’
This isn’t just a “constitutional crisis”—it’s a full-scale attack on the constitutional order by an administration that views the Constitution as old furniture that can be kicked out of the way in search of personal profit and political power.
The Constitution doesn’t belong to the President but to the people, and our job in Congress is to save it from all the authoritarianism set loose in the land. Eternal vigilance is still the price of liberty.
