Hello Meidas Mighty, it’s Ben Meiselas.
I wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy Holidays.
You’ve turned what we do into more than just a “media network.” You’ve transformed it into a movement, a force, and a family—the Meidas Mighty!
Too often, communities, especially those in politics, are built around rage and grievance.
But you have built the Meidas Mighty community around love, respect, empathy, intelligence, truth, and democracy.
These enduring values and principles that the Meidas Mighty represents will prevail in the end, even if there are some inconvenient setbacks along the way.
We certainly understand that the present circumstances may feel less than ideal. We know that when you were envisioning what the holidays would look like months ago, you didn’t picture it this way. I wish I could change history. I wish there was more we could have done. But I also know there’s still plenty of reason for hope.
When I interviewed President Biden last week, he told us he still has hope for America and the world. President Biden also said that the MeidasTouch community “tells the truth,” and that’s why we continue to grow.
I’m actually very hopeful this holiday season—not just because I’m a “congenital optimist,” as President Biden described himself, but because this community has stood together through it all and is ready to fight back.
I see pro-democracy protests in the streets of Tbilisi and Belgrade pushing back against Putin’s control. I see the downfall of Putin puppets like Bashar Al-Assad in Syria. I see the strength of President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian heroes. I see world leaders like Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum standing up. And yes, I see Democrats in the United States getting back into the fight and calling out the oligarchs who prop up this mess.
I also see the growth of this community.
