Tell RFK, Jr. to |
I’m writing today about a serious threat to democracy. His name is Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
RFK Jr. is running for President as an independent and is trying to position himself as an “environmental candidate.” It would almost be laughable if it weren’t so dangerous. A very real possibility is that his campaign takes votes away from Joe Biden to benefit the worst climate president ever, Donald J. Trump.
add your name to the nationwide petition calling on RFK Jr. to drop out of the U.S. Presidential race immediately!
RFK Jr’s track record on climate is pitiful, to say the least. Let’s review:
- He thinks “climate change is being used to control us through fear” and that this crisis is being used as a pretext for clamping down totalitarian controls.”
- He believes that addressing the climate crisis will only benefit “the billionaire club at Davos”
- Yet somehow he thinks “freedom and free markets are a much better way to stop pollution”
How exactly does that work? The free market wants one thing: more fossil fuels. The billionaire class made itself on fossil fuels. RFK Jr’s platform is a pro-fossil fuel platform and there is no way he would make progress on climate.
But that’s not even the worst part.
The worst part is that his role in the elections will possibly benefit Trump, who spent every moment of his presidency rolling back environmental rules to help out his billionaire buddies.
There are a host of other reasons to reject RFK Jr., like his vaccine denial activism and his statements on democracy. But we are a climate group and if you care about the climate, you will agree RFK Jr. needs to go.
President Biden, by contrast, is the best shot we have at solving the climate crisis. But don’t just take it from me. Take it from the New York Times:
“Mr. Biden has enacted the most aggressive climate agenda of any president. In addition to the Inflation Reduction Act, which is providing more than $370 billion for clean energy over the next decade, he is limiting emissions from automobiles, is poised to cut carbon pollution from power plants and has reined in future oil and gas drilling by limiting the available tracts of land and water that companies can lease.”
Since the Times wrote this, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency finalized its carbon pollution rules for power plants. And there’s more yet in store for this climate president.
Don’t let our nation get distracted. Tell RFK Jr. to drop out now!
