When I think about the right's Trump-aligned efforts to rip apart democracy, I imagine a vast complex network. But what if I told you that one of the most prominent outfits behind this dark vision for America could be traced to mostly four undisclosed donors?
That sounds pretty messed up, no? Well, that's exactly what my colleague Isabela Dias discovered about the Bradley Impact Fund, which helps finance the work of Stephen Miller and Michael Flynn in their missions to essentially create a right-wing infrastructure for Trump's vision.
"It shows how purposefully opaque these money flows are,” Caroline Ciccone, president of Accountable US, told Isabela. "They move through multiple different entities in a way that intentionally obscures sources." The limited number of major funding sources to the Bradley Impact Fund, she added, suggests that "they're really only intended to work for a small elite group who doesn’t seem to be comfortable perhaps with the values that they are pushing across the country."
So what does this right-wing infrastructure look like? An assault on voting rights. Further restrictions on reproductive rights. Anti-LGBTQ agendas.
This is dark money at its grimmest: An elite secretive group of donors eagerly anticipating another Donald Trump presidency. If that doesn't shake you to the core, well, I want whatever you're drinking.
