I believe deeply in our democracy and the foundational values that uphold it. And just as I believe every eligible person has the right to vote, I believe that any eligible person has the right to run for public office.   But these are unprecedented times, and, having served my first two terms in Congress under the disastrous presidency of Donald Trump, I am committed to doing everything in my power to make sure that history does not repeat itself. And that is why I am asking Nicole Shanahan to step away from Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s presidential ticket and join the broad coalition supporting President Biden.   In March, RFK Jr. announced his running mate, philanthropist and attorney Nicole Shanahan. Shanahan has every right to run on RFK Jr.’s ticket. But let’s be clear—RFK Jr.’s bid for president will not lead to the White House. It could, however, tip the scales in Trump’s favor. And a second Trump presidency would be catastrophic—for our environment, for our economy, and for our democracy.   Will you add your name to my open letter urging Shanahan to step back from RFK Jr.’s presidential ticket and instead help elect President Biden?
