We are now 15 days into the Chaos Clown Circus™️ that is this MAGA extremist Republican caucus. They ousted Speaker McCarthy two weeks ago because he wasn’t extreme enough! Imagine that Rep. Kevin McCarthy—a man who groveled at the feet of his party's most extreme, far-right members and gave them everything they wanted still wasn’t good enough for them. They have no plan on how to get Congress functioning again—even in the midst of a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the continued war in Russian war in Ukraine, the looming budget fight and potential shutdown showdown again next month, and so many other pressing issues. They have now put forward an election denier and insurrectionist sympathizer as their next option in Rep. Jim Jordan, and he is still critically far away from the needed votes. They are not serious people. It is also clear that another option exists if only a few brave Republicans would choose to put country over party and work with Democrats to form a bipartisan coalition Congress to elect Rep. Hakeem Jeffries as the next Speaker. Email your Congress Member right now and urge our elected officials to stop playing games with our country and get to work For The People! The next Speaker needs 217 votes, but Jim Jordan still hasn’t been able to break 200 votes in his favor; meanwhile, Hakeem Jeffries already has 211 votes locked in. Any Republican who truly cares for this country and their constituents has a choice: continue to go along with the bidding of MAGA extremists or do the right thing, break past this manufactured chaos, and join with the sensible adults in the room to move our country forward. We have seen some Republicans do just that over the past few years, notably, Sen. Romney voting to impeach Pres. Trump, and Representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kizzinger assisting with the January 6th investigation. It is now time for a few more to reject the chaos for the good of the country. Common Defense |
