During their Supreme Court confirmation hearings, Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch testified, under oath, that in their view Roe v. Wade was settled law.
Then, as we all know, they both joined the Court’s majority opinion overturning Roe v. Wade — and half a century of settled law. This means only one thing: Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch lied under oath to the U.S. Senate.
Perjury is a crime. And if perjury is found to have occurred, the correct remedy is impeachment. I’m circulating a petition calling on the Senate to impeach Justices Kavanaugh and Gorsuch for lying in their confirmation hearings. Will you add your name?
In the meantime, I know folks are looking to their leaders to defend reproductive freedom, so here’s my promise to you: As governor of Florida, I will do everything in my power to defend the right to choose. - On day one of a Crist administration, I will sign an executive order prohibiting Florida state agencies from closing reproductive health care clinics or cooperating with any federal officials or states seeking to prosecute women for exercising their constitutional right to freedom.
- And after I defeat Gov. Ron DeSantis, if he takes lame duck action to ban the right to choose in Florida, I vow to veto every single piece of anti-freedom Republican legislation until they repeal it.
But we can’t just respond to this vile, unconstitutional, and anti-American decision. We also need to hold responsible the ones who made this decision, especially the Supreme Court justices who stood before the U.S. Senate — and the American people — and lied.
Please sign my petition calling for the immediate impeachment of Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch: The fight continues, as it must.
Charlie Crist
