ExxonMobil’s RECORD-BREAKING profits are at your expense

Here’s the thing,

You’ve probably been experiencing ‘inflation’ partly due to high gas prices — either at the pump or in the grocery store. But while people like you have been struggling, fossil fuel companies have been raking in RECORD BREAKING profits. ExxonMobil had a 220% INCREASE in profits in the first quarter of 2022 compared to 2021.

Gas prices are breaking records at $6.50 a gallon, but companies like Exxon are claiming they need even MORE money to EXPAND oil & gas projects to ‘lower their prices.’ So where do they get the money for expansion (besides these astronomical gas prices)? Big banks.

Fossil fuel projects need financing, and banks like JPMorgan Chase LOVE to provide that. In fact, Chase is one of Exxon’s top financiers.

It’s time for Chase to END their massive contributions to corporate greed and climate chaos and stop financing fossil fuel expansion projects IMMEDIATELY.

If our system weren’t so reliant on fossil fuels, the gas price crisis wouldn’t be happening (and you wouldn’t be forced to participate in it). Our dependency on oil and gas gives companies like Exxon the ability to rake in massive profits at YOUR expense. Not only the expense you’re feeling at the pump, but the climate disasters that are already costing communities BILLIONS of dollars every year.

Instead of lowering gas prices, shareholders and executives are personally profiting. Instead of working towards a habitable climate and just energy practices, they claim they need more funding to expand their oil and gas projects. Their astounding greed continues to go unchecked, and we’re all paying the price.

Exxon, BP, Shell – all of the gas giants MUST work towards a just and equitable energy transition. Ending financing of fossil fuel expansion from banks is one of the ways to make that happen. JPMorgan Chase has given Exxon $15.3 BILLION in the past 6 years alone! Big banks are the right hand to big oil’s destruction. They couldn’t do it without each other.

This toxic relationship has to end. Tell Chase it needs to stop financing fossil fuel expansion projects NOW and work with their clients toward a just and livable future.
