Systemic oppression in this country stems not just from our criminal justice system, but from our social and economic structures as well. We cannot solve that injustice solely with justice reform – we must tackle every component from which that injustice arises.
Ilhan had the courage to speak that truth, and now the entire right wing media apparatus has organized a smear campaign to twist her words and denigrate the movement. At this moment, we have to come together and fight back.
