POGO: The Breakdown: Inspectors General, Explained

One of the reasons you continue to engage with POGO’s work is that you value holding our government accountable. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that one important part of holding the government accountable is increasing government oversight.

And inspectors general (IGs) are the people on the front lines investigating waste, fraud, and abuse in our government. They are our eyes and ears into what’s happening—or shouldn’t be happening—in our government. In fact, for every dollar invested in an IG office, they are able to identify about $17 dollars in potential savings to their agencies. But these essential watchdogs, until recently, weren’t on the American public’s radar. That’s why POGO has created a video to explain who IGs are and why we should care, especially now.

POGO is dedicated to rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse in our government. And IGs are one of the American people’s most important allies against wrongdoing inside government. That’s why we will go on fighting every day to ensure that these individuals have the tools and protections needed to do their jobs to the level that taxpayers deserve.

Thank you, for putting your trust in us.
