Why I walked out

Let me start by saying this: I walked out of the State of the Union address last night.

Donald Trump turned the State of the Union into a campaign rally. The most powerful and compelling case the President made was that the speech should be delivered in writing from now on. And frankly, Speaker Pelosi had the right idea with her copy.

Ahead of the speech, my team and I had agreed that we were going to use my platforms of social media to fact check President Trump. Over a dozen tweets later, it was evident that the evening would be nearly fact-free.

From health care, to the economy, to immigration, education, and beyond — Trump spewed his usual nonsense.

I won't waste your time or demean your intelligence with a recap. Instead, I'll ask for this: let's make this the last Trump State of the Union address we have to sit through.
