Trump Joked About Alligator Alcatraz. Guards There Beat A Chained Man.

He was handcuffed and chained at the feet. Guards punched him in the head anyway. Kat Cammack defended camps like this one. The election is Tuesday, and Seth Harp wants her seat.

Election Day is Tuesday. Three days left.

Rigoberto Rodríguez Arce was pulled over for driving on a suspended license. He was put on an immigration hold and sent to Alligator Alcatraz, the detention camp in the Florida Everglades.

In January, guards pulled him off a bench. His hands were cuffed to a chain at his waist. His feet were shackled.

A camera caught what came next. One guard punched him in the side of the head. Another hit the back of his head, then threw two more punches.

“They Would Have Kept Hitting Me”

“If I hadn’t pretended to faint, they would have kept hitting me,” Arce said.

The camp’s leaders told investigators the guards’ actions were appropriate. State police later arrested two of the guards.

“I still have nightmares,” Arce said.

On his way to tour Alligator Alcatraz, Trump joked about the people who would be locked inside. “We’re going to teach them how to run away from an alligator,” he said. “Don’t run in a straight line.”

Kat Cammack Asked Where The Empathy Was

When Democrats called Trump’s detention centers camps, Republican Kat Cammack went on Fox News to attack the Democrats.

“Where is the empathy for American citizens,” she asked. “I wish that they cared half as much for the American people.”

Six months later, guards at Alligator Alcatraz punched a man in chains.

Kat Cammack is asking voters for another term.

It Started With A Traffic Stop

Arce was not caught at the border. He was pulled over on a Florida road.

Trump’s ICE is holding people like him in detention centers across the country. If a suspended license can end with a chained man punched in the head, a traffic stop is no longer safe for anyone.

A Civics Teacher Is Running Against Her

Seth Harp is the Democrat running against Cammack. He teaches seventh-grade civics, and he wants an earned path to legal status for people already living and working here.

Two of every three dollars he has raised came in gifts under $200. His campaign runs on grassroots donations from the people.

72 Hours

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd. That is three days away.

Harp’s money pays for the texts, calls, and door knockers that reach voters this weekend. Every dollar has to work by Monday night.

Cammack defended the camps. On Tuesday, voters decide if she keeps her job.
