Congress is trying to put itself between D.C. residents and our own money. In a breaking legislative proposal, national Republicans are trying to flip the rules for our local budget.   Instead of D.C’s democratically decided tax and budget laws taking effect, Republicans want the final say on all of D.C.’s budget decisions.   Their power grab would mean members of Congress who do not represent us could decide whether we can fund our police, schools, and essential services. It would even give them power over ordinary fees and decisions to lower local taxes.   This is a simple veto over our city.   I have spent my career taking on the systems that hold D.C. back, and I know this fight cannot stop here. Our next delegate needs to be ready to organize allies in Congress, make the case for home rule, and refuse to let the District be treated like a political prop.   Please chip in $5 today to help build a campaign strong enough to stop congressional interference.
