Most of us already know that Trump is a liar — but at 25 days out, it's high time we revisit some of those promises he made to each of us back on the campaign trail in 2024. For those who refuse to see what's in front of them, or still believe he cares about anyone outside the billionaire class bankrolling his depravity, let's revisit some of his campaign promises and see how they've held up... the results aren't pretty. Speaking to the Economic Club of New York in 2024, Trump claimed: "We're going down and getting gasoline below $2 a gallon." At the time of this statement, the average gallon of gas costs $4.44, with diesel coming in at $6.40. He also promised that, "Under my administration, we will be slashing energy and electricity prices by half within 12 months, at a maximum 18 months." The cost of electricity has risen more than 8% since Trump took office. That was over 20 months ago. Considering all of the effort he's put in to make it harder for folks to feed their families, him telling us that "A vote for Trump means your groceries will be cheaper" is just laughable. Outside of his destruction of SNAP, grocery prices have risen 3% under the Trump administration. As we head into the midterms, it's worth remembering his mountain of unkept promises. So far, his second term has been full of fascist attacks on American civil liberties, unimaginable levels of corruption and self-enrichment, and absurd spectacles; take your pick: Freedom 250, the ballroom, and the military arch. But the prices he vowed to cut are the ones climbing. If we don't take back Congress and repeal Trump's Big Ugly Bill, it'll only get worse. One bill won't fix the mess that this Administration has made and the GOP rubber-stamped. A majority in Congress is the first thing we need for his house of cards to fall. Can I count on you to chip in to this fight? The next 25 days will determine whether we retake the House majority and get this place back on track.
