On October 29, 2025, Trump’s Treasury lifted the sanctions on Milorad Dodik, Putin’s ally in Bosnia. I went into the foreign-agent filings and found a $700,000 payment from the government Dodik’s party runs to the firm of Rod Blagojevich—the former Illinois governor Trump pardoned—dated that same day. The paper trail is below.

A Logger Just Told Susan Collins She’s Like An Arsonist
Also: a judge catches ICE falsifying paperwork, the memo Trump won’t let you read, and who paid his money men.
Good morning, and happy Friday. Thanks so much for joining me.
Before you read on, tap the ❤️ like button, then restack this edition. Restacking is Substack’s version of taping a flyer in a shop window: press it, and this edition shows up for everyone who follows you. Trump would love for these stories to stay quiet. Don’t let them.
This community has sent more than 881,000 letters to Congress since November 2024, and our posts about this regime are seen billions of times a month. Paid subscribers pay for the reporting and organizing behind all of it. Today they also get my breakdown of the governors’ races, including Iowa, where a Democrat leads in the newest Times/Siena poll by 11 in a state Trump carried three times.
If you’re not already one, join us as a paid subscriber and let’s knock out these last 25 days together:
The Logger Who Compared Collins
To An Arsonist
Troy Jackson was a logger in Allagash, Maine, before he led the state Senate. Now he’s the Democrat coming for Sen. Susan Collins’s seat. She’s held it for nearly 30 years.
Last year Trump needed votes to get his big ugly bill onto the Senate floor, and Collins gave him one. It got there 51 to 49. Three days later she voted against the bill itself, but it passed anyway. By the estimate she herself cited when she voted no, it cuts $5.9 billion from Maine’s Medicaid over 10 years. Trump robs sick people to pay for tax cuts for the rich, and Collins helped hold the door.
At their first debate Tuesday night, she defended that procedural vote. If she hadn’t “allowed the bill to go to the floor,” she said, she couldn’t have gotten her rural health fund into it. Jackson answered: “Senator Collins is like an arsonist who helped set the fire, and then she wants credit for bringing a cup of water to put it out.”
He’s right, and she knows it. She wrote last year that her fund “is not sufficient to offset” what the bill does to Medicaid.
Then the moderator asked whether Collins would stand with Trump if he comes to Maine. He asked twice. She never said yes. That’s where Trump is now—a senator from his own party won’t promise to stand beside him.
The logger is narrowly ahead of Collins, and Trump’s Senate majority is on the line.
Bronx Man Beats ICE’s Falsified
Paperwork In Court
Angel Jesus Almonte was on a Bronx street on May 6 when masked ICE agents chased him and cuffed him face down on the sidewalk. They said he looked like the man they wanted—who is five inches shorter and 70 pounds lighter.
Minutes later, the same team arrested Jeury Concepcion, a teenage US citizen. He needed stitches in his head. The Trump regime later claimed Concepcion “was NOT arrested by ICE.” A federal judge says he was.
ICE kept Almonte locked up for 51 days. Then Judge Gary Brown, a Trump appointee, put the agents under oath, and their own team leader conceded, “it’s very easy to see they’re two different people.” Brown ordered Almonte freed that day.
On Monday the judge put the rest in writing. Brown explained that ICE wrote its warrant after the arrest. The supervisor who signed it had searched five federal databases and found no record of Almonte, but the warrant swore those databases showed he had no legal right to be here. Agents “falsified official records trying to conceal their illegal actions,” Brown wrote.
Almonte is an immigrant from the Dominican Republic, still facing deportation. Brown ruled his arrest illegal anyway. He called Concepcion’s illegal too, and gave ICE until October 26 to answer.
Judge Tells Trump’s Lawyers: Show
Me The Memo
For 13 months, Trump has had the military blowing up small boats it says are running drugs. No arrests, no trials—and more than 230 people are dead as a result.
Ask Trump’s people what law lets him do that, and the only legal document they’ve ever pointed to is a secret Justice Department memo. Sen. Tim Kaine, a Virginia Democrat, has read it. In August he wrote Trump and said that the US is attacking people “far beyond” who the memo says it can legally target. “They are murder victims,” he wrote.
The ACLU and the Center for Constitutional Rights sued to get the memo out. On September 30 federal Judge Paul Engelmayer found the Pentagon’s been treating the memo as “effective law and policy” for the strikes—and an agency can’t run based off a secret law. He also threw out two of the three secrecy privileges the regime claimed for it.
The judge then ordered the regime to show him the memo by October 14. Trump decided for himself that the killing is legal. Now every person who has touched that memo has to be named, under oath.
Trump Says His Own Money Men
Aren’t His
Here we are only weeks out from the midterms, and two men who run Trump’s political money spent part of the home stretch working for a government led by Putin’s friends.
James Blair oversees MAGA Inc., the pro-Trump fund that had $415 million in late August. Chris LaCivita, Trump’s 2024 campaign co-manager, advises it. The New York Times reports both were in Bosnia last week, each paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to advise the pro-Russian government of a Serb-run region there. It’s run by the party of Milorad Dodik, a convicted strongman and Putin ally.
On Wednesday Trump wrote that the two “do not work for me, other than as outside consultants.” Two days earlier he said he’d pay for his ads “with money I raised for MAGA, Inc.” He raises it and they spend it. Don’t tell me they don’t work for him.
That government has paid Trump’s people before. I went into the foreign-agent filings. Trump pardoned Rod Blagojevich, the Illinois governor jailed for corruption, in February 2025. About six weeks later Blagojevich had a contract with that same regional government and a written goal: get the US to drop its sanctions—the financial penalties on Dodik. Trump’s Treasury dropped them on October 29, 2025. The filings show a $700,000 payment to Blagojevich’s firm from that government, dated that day.
A government run by Putin’s friends keeps paying the people around Trump, and it got what it wanted from Trump’s Treasury. If Democrats win the House, they can subpoena the records and put the people who took the money under oath.
They Aren’t Buying These
Governors’ Races
Republicans hold 26 of the 50 governorships and Democrats hold 24. We need to take two of theirs and hold what we’ve got to take it back. Trump has become a weight around his own party’s neck, and money isn't cutting it loose.
Texas shouldn’t be close. Gov. Greg Abbott has spent $141 million this year alone, but the newest New York Times poll has Democrat Gina Hinojosa ahead of him. Abbott still leads the polling average, just barely. On Wednesday, when Trump rallied in San Antonio, Abbott went to a hospital dedication—he would rather be about 330 miles away than stand next to Trump. I get it.
Ohio should scare them. Republican Vivek Ramaswamy lent his own campaign $25 million, and he has Trump’s endorsement. But he still trails Democrat Dr. Amy Acton in four recent polls—by eight in the newest one from CNN. Trump won Ohio three times. Now just 36% of Ohio voters approve of him, and he’s dragging his own candidate down.
A real shot in Iowa. Trump won this state three times too. But now Democrat Rob Sand leads by 11 in the newest New York Times poll. CNN has him up by 9. When Trump’s party is down by that much in a state he easily won, nothing they have is safe.
We could lose Kansas. Democrats hold that seat, and Republican Ty Masterson is up five. Lose Kansas and we’ll need to pick up three GOP seats to take the majority. That’s why the close ones matter so much: Alaska, Nevada, and Wisconsin could all go either way.
Georgia is a coin flip. Trump backed a different Republican in the primary, but the state’s Republicans picked businessman Rick Jackson instead. Jackson’s raised a whopping $119 million through July, but he still can’t shake Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms. The polling averages are split. Trump couldn’t sell his own pick, and Jackson’s money hasn’t bought him a lead. With Sen. Jon Ossoff leading his own race on the ballot, it could push Bottoms over the top to become the first Black woman governor in US history.
The Bottom Line: Republicans have the money, and they have Trump, and Trump is costing them more than the money can buy back. A majority of governors—our first since 2010—is within reach.
We have just 25 days left until the midterms, and Trump’s political money men spent part of the home stretch in the Balkans, getting paid to advise a foreign government. Here, we don’t answer to other countries, advertisers, or billionaires. The only person I answer to is you.
When I find a $700,000 payment in a foreign-agent filing, I don’t have an owner to call first or a sponsor to warn. I print it. And I’ve got more exclusive investigations coming before Election Day. Republicans in tight Senate and House races are not going to like them.
That’s what a paid subscription buys, for you—and for every reader who can’t afford one. You also get my campaign analysis three mornings a week and a seat next to me on election night, live on Substack starting at 8:30 PM Eastern. That’s when we will find out the results together. Spend these 25 days in the fight with me—and help power what’s next:
Before you go, tap the ❤️ like button and restack this edition, so it gets in front of someone who’s convinced we’ll lose the midterms.

Happy Friday, everyone. If today’s edition made you angry, here’s where to put it. Four letters, about a minute each:
Impeach Pete Hegseth. More than 230 people killed in boat strikes, and the only legal cover is a secret memo.

Tell Congress to start drafting articles of impeachment against Trump. His Treasury lifted the sanctions, and $700,000 landed the same day.

A FEW OF MANY COMMENTS:
This is the final stretch, and I am glad you are still here. Twenty-five days. We do not get through them without each other. I could not have made it this far without you. Let’s finish strong.
Twenty-five days, Sam. Having this community united and working in lockstep every single day is how we make it across the finish line. Let's finish strong together!
If ever you wondered how a civilized group of people like the pre WWII Germans could go Nazi. just look around. At least they had the excuse of limited experience with democracy, WHAT EXCUSE DO WE HAVE? The US has never lived up to its' ideals, but what is happening now is beyond belief.
We have a chance to redeem ourselves on Nov 3, I surely hope we grab that chance with both hands.
Joan, your historical comparison is a sobering reminder that democracy requires active, vigilant defense. November 3rd is our chance to seize that opportunity with both hands and restore constitutional principles!
If they do not work for him, whose ads are they buying with the money he says he raised? He does not get to have it both ways.
The problem is, trump believes he gets to have it, period. No matter what “it” is. He’s a mob boss.
Operating with that mob-boss mentality is exactly why structural guardrails and strict campaign finance enforcement are mandatory, Wis. The rule of law has to apply to everyone.
That is the ultimate contradiction, Ms. Jonington. Claiming distance while simultaneously spending the coordinated funds is classic bad-faith maneuvering. They do not get to have it both ways, and the voters see right through it.
There is no way, if the republicans win, that the election was fair. I sound like I’m using trump’s illogical and self-servingly convenient argument, but the country HATES him and what republicans have supported and enabled him to do. I’m looking at the polls, the evidence and listening to people “on the ground”. It’s beyond obvious that he’s pulling out all stops to rig this election.
We need a blue wave to wash that bastard (at least his fetid swamp) out of our government, people!! VOTE!! ✊👏💪✌️🤝🫶🏻
High turnout breaks voter suppression models, Wis. Making our collective margin of victory too massive to manipulate or challenge is the objective. Vote!
I voted for Troy Jackson and blue down the entire ballot here in Maine. Our voting process is secure. I am a registered voter and did not have to show my ID, just give my full legal name and address.
Thanks for keeping hope alive, Scott!
Backing Troy Jackson and voting straight blue down the ticket in Maine is great news, Sheryl! Clean, secure, accessible voting is the bedrock of our democracy.
Voted today for Troy as well.
Thank you for getting your vote locked in for Troy as well, Mike! Solid work in Maine.
My God, the corruption is so extreme, whatever trump is threatening before midterms is not just worrisome, I’m wondering if I need to stock up and move my bed to the basement.
The sheer volume of threats and legal overreach is alarming, Wis. Keeping our focus on community organizing, early voting, and ballot security is how we counter that intimidation.
25 more days of DonOld's panic and scrambled brain! Plus the ketchup cleanup after losing "his" precious Peace prize AGAIN! Natalie must be pretty exhausted from keeping the toddler occupied.
No doubt it is all out disruption time, mail votes being sent out and returned now. Voting so important now, to tell the regime their control is going, going, gone!
Got my vote dropped off, and to celebrate I have Hillary's mug "NASTY WOMEN VOTE" out and in use through election day!
Good trouble, Scott and team, AND all of us! Let them know we mean it!
Banking your ballot early and keeping that determined energy high is fantastic, Kristen! 25 days out, every vote dropped in a secure box cements our collective power.
Amy Acton for Ohio Governor! I just donated part of my $90 government bribe to her campaign. 🇺🇸 Still waiting for my absentee ballot to arrive. Early voting is looking good in my Ohio county! 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Donating to Dr. Amy Acton and keeping tabs on early voting in Ohio is high-impact grassroots action, Kathy! Turning frustration into campaign support drives real change.
Bribe, for sure! We used every penny of ours (and more) to support Dems!
Great reporting! We need to get rid of these horrible goons doing all kinds of illegal things. It’s amazing how many goons get connected with Russia. Jack Smith is right about those connections.
Following the money and documenting foreign interference has always been essential, Dianne. Jack Smith and independent investigators keeping those facts on the record is invaluable.
I can’t speculate about anything right now. I just read that Hegseth is promoting a live firing squad so we all can watch! Please send that letter to impeach him or we all become evil goons
The rhetoric coming out of the Defense Department leadership is horrifying and unlawful. Demanding immediate congressional hearings and impeachment for unconstitutional actions is why sending those letters matters so much.
Every day more and more and more examples of the Rampant Wide Spread Massive Corruption from the Regime of DonOLD Hump - because he will Screw anybody. NOW we hear that there is a Heritage Foundation Memo telling Republicans to NOT recognize the results of the coming elections! Does that mean if any Republican wins anywhere that we can just ignore that too....... Remember it is the Heritage Foundation headed by Kevin Roberts that brought America PROJECT 2025 which is being used EVERY DAY to CUT and GUT the American government. And it is being directed from the inside by one of the authors of PROJECT 2025 - Russell Vought - who Hump hinted has something in store for the upcoming elections. Corruption everywhere you look........ A massive Voters turnout is what is needed to bury these America HATERS and hold them ALL accountable. VOTE!!! like your life and future depended on it......because it does........
Murray, circulating directives to reject election outcomes shows sheer desperation from the authors of Project 2025. Overwhelming, undeniable turnout at the polls is the only way to crush those schemes and hold every official accountable to the Constitution!
Pretty much the whole cabinet are arsonists. Torching their institutions for profit and firing the inspectors who could stop them seems like a textbook definition.
Nicole, firing inspectors general and gutting ethical guardrails while handing contracts to cronies is the textbook definition of institutional arson. Reinstalling strong oversight is job one.
Impeach Pete Kegs-breath - he is a bloodthirsty murderer! All those poor fishermen, all those innocent school children, American citizens murdered in the street, our brave military personnel who died because of the corrupt maga regime's illegal war and those wounded who the evil regime did not give immediate medical aid. How many more people must die before the warmongering killer's taste for blood is satiated?
Launching unauthorized military strikes without congressional authorization and operating behind secret legal memos violates the War Powers Resolution, Patti. Pete Hegseth must face a recorded impeachment vote in the House!

Keep at it, Scott. You're doing great! Charles Church
Thank you so much for the steady encouragement, Charles! We will keep pushing forward every single day.
impeach them all...convict and jail; them all...
Constitutional oversight through impeachment, conviction, and criminal prosecution for lawbreaking is the correct remedy, Sharon.
