… Guardian: “Trump and Gianni Infantino were booed as they took to the field for the presentation ceremony before the US president attempted to gatecrash Spain’s victory party. Trump was briefly shown on the video screens at the stadium after the US national anthem was played. There were scattered boos from some in the crowd but nothing like the hostile reception he has received at other sporting events during his presidency.”

Those attacks injured dozens of US service members and damaged several helicopters. But the Pentagon did not disclose the earlier strikes, nor the casualties and damage they inflicted.”

The president commented after returning to DC from NJ aboard the jet, which Trump has said he plans to take with him for his presidential library when he leaves office.”

… Politico: “Kash Patel is planning to visit Russia later this year, likely in mid-Oct, according to a US official and a person familiar with the situation. It would be an unusual and sensitive trip for an FBI chief to one of America’s top adversaries. The plans come as Washington and Moscow continue to be at odds over the war in Ukraine, with US lawmakers demanding the imposition of heavy new sanctions on Russia.”

It's the worst this century for a president at this point in his second term when you look at an average of the polls. Donald John Trump now hold the record for the worst ever net approval rating of any president at his second term.”

… Both the Telegraph and Daily Mail are reporting the golfer Bryson Dechambeau threatened to call his good friend Trump when the Royal & Ancient Club assessed a 2-stroke penalty after he illegally trampled down the grass behind his ball to improve his backstroke at the British Open this past weekend. The R&A didn’t back down, Bryson didn’t make the call, and he lost his appeal.
… Dechambeau then threatened to quit the tournament the next morning before the final round and fly back to the US. The R&A basically said fine and they would help him pack his bags. Dechambeau then announced on Twitter early Sunday morning that he would finish the tournament after all, but he still wasn’t happy. He was in 2nd place at the time and ended up finishing 14th.

… Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) on Trump’s renewed push to attach the SAVE Act to appropriations bills: “The SAVE ACT fight is fake, always was. It’s designed to make you furious. There is no plan to pass it. Republican politicians are playing you. It’s designed to distract you from increased debt, war, inflation, and further usurpations of your rights.”
… NBC4 (DC): “A DC judge set a trial date for the US Olympic canoeist accused of damaging the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. David Hearn is set to go to trial on Sept. 28 on a single count of destruction of property. Superior Court Judge Todd Edelman said at a hearing Monday that he expects the trial to last a week.”
… But Edelman warned prosecutors that govt work to fix the pool is done “at its own peril.” Hearn’s defense had entered a motion to dismiss the case for failure to preserve evidence. The judge dismissed the motion without prejudice. The motion can be refiled if the defense finds the remediation of the pool affected the alleged damaged area before the defense was able to examine it. The defense hopes to get an expert to examine the area this week.”
… Hearn stopped at the Reflecting Pool during a bike ride on June 19 and touched a piece of coating that he saw was already detached in the pool. He was arrested and detained for 5 hours: “The condition of the Reflecting Pool was the same after I stepped away from the water as it was before I got there.”
… The Atlantic: “Federal prosecutors have accused Hearn of ‘forcefully and violently’ ripping up the sealant, causing damage to property that should be punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Hearn’s lawyers argue that these are ridiculous and frivolous charges—and in a motion to dismiss the case said they could present photographic evidence proving he didn’t cause major damage. Hearn, who for many years sold waterproofing materials for boats and canoes, has suggested that he was trying to figure out why the pool’s lining was falling apart, not damage it.”

… Republicans have included a so-called “death gratuity” into their new spending bill for Lindsey Graham’s sister Darline. When the bill finally passes, Darline Graham will receive her salary as a senator plus an extra full year’s salary of $174,000 in honor of her brother Lindsey. It has long been a tradition for the senate to include a full year’s salary for the heirs of senators who die in office to receive a full year of salary.

… I don’t recall them being held accountable in MN at all. Not sure what he’s talking about.
Homan then got emotional, waiving his arms wildly and yelling: “ICE agents are moms and dads too. I can’t even go get a quart of milk at a grocery store without a security detail. Why? Because I’m enforcing the laws of this country. It’s pathetic and disgusting.”
… He then stormed off.
