Mass. teacher, camp worker arrested over child sex abuse material, police say
In a letter to the community, Belmont Public Schools Superintendent Jill Geiser said Leon Dyer has been banned from school property and accounts and that her administration was working with investigators.
A man who's been a Belmont teacher and Middleboro camp worker was arrested Saturday on suspicion of having child sexual abuse material, Massachusetts State Police said.
Leon Dyer, 45, faces two charges of possessing child sexual abuse material, police said Sunday in announcing his arrest. The Belmont resident is due in Cambridge District Court on Monday.
Dyer was arrested by the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crime Unit Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, state police Crime Scene Services and the Belmont Police Department, officials said. They didn't share what led to the arrest.
It wasn't immediately clear if Dyer had an attorney who could speak to the charge.
Police said Dyer had worked for Belmont Middle School. They didn't identify the camp he's worked for. They referred parents looking for resources to the Middlesex Child Advocacy Center.
