FBI raids office of Democratic lawmaker who helped lead Virginia redistricting push — with Fox News in tow
The FBI on Wednesday searched the office of state Senate President Pro Tempore L. Louise Lucas, the Democratic lawmaker who just so happened to lead the state's successful redistricting push that will likely result in four new Democratic-leaning congressional districts.

While FBI officials insist the search is connected to a long-running public corruption investigation into her that began during the Biden administration, Lucas had a starkly different take on the matter: "Today’s actions by Federal agents are about far more than one state senator; they are about power and who is allowed to use it on behalf of the people. What we saw fits a clear pattern from this administration: when challenged, they try to intimidate and silence the voices who stand up to them."

Fox News clearly got a friendly heads up beforehand, as the Republican talking points dissemintator was on the scene live as the raid unfolded. Make of that what you will.

Just a thought, but if the justices sitting on the highest court in the land don't want to be perceived as "political actors," perhaps the conservative supermajority should stop engaging in brazen, partisan chicanery, issuing disastrous rulings that fundamentally run afoul of American ideals of democracy, equality, and basic freedom?

Also, maybe Justice Samuel Alito should refrain from wildly partisan and deeply unethical political behavior, like publicly flying an upside-down American flag in support of the widely debunked conspiracy theory that the 2020 election was stolen. Or perhaps Alito and fellow arch-conservative Clarence Thomas shouldn't accept luxury vacation gifts from billionaire benefactors who directly or indirectly have business before the court?

Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged suicide note released by federal judge
A federal court on Wednesday finally released a purported suicide note that the world's most notorious child sex trafficker allegedly wrote before he died under suspicious circumstances in jail in August of 2019. "They investigated me for month[s] — FOUND NOTHING!!!" claims the note, which was allegedly written before Epstein was found unresponsive but alive in his cell in July of that year as he awaited trial on sex trafficking charges. The note continued: "It is a treat to be able to choose one’s time to say goodbye. Watcha want me to do — Bust out cryin!! NO FUN. NOT WORTH IT!!"

Epstein’s cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione, claims he discovered the message inside a book in July after the first incident. Epstein claimed that Tartaglione, a former police officer convicted of leading a murder plot, tried to kill him, but the disgraced financier did not subsequently repeat the claim after he was removed to another cell.

Timely reminder: the Department of Justice is still sitting on millions of unreleased Epstein files, despite Congress passing — and the president signing — the Epstein Transparency Act in late 2025 requiring the release of all pertinent documents.

According to new reporting by The Atlantic, beleaguered FBI Director Kash Patel has apparently been handing out self-branded bottles of "Ka$h Patel" whiskey while on official government business. The new detail from reporter Sarah Fitzpatrick just so happened to drop on the same day news broke that the FBI had launched a criminal investigation into Fitzpatrick for a previous report she wrote describing Patel's penchant for excessive partying and drinking while also overseeing the 38,000-strong agency.

The bottles bear the imprint of the Kentucky bourbon distillery Woodford Reserve, and are engraved with the words "Kash Patel FBI Director," as well as a rendering of an FBI shield. Nope, nothing deeply weird or unethical about that, Kash!

Oh, Patel also maintains a merch store where you can pick up all manner of overpriced "FIGHT WITH KASH" swag, including a deck of "Government Gangster" playing cards, featuring "King Donald, the ruler of the land, conqueror of Deep State combatants," the "FIGHT WITH KASH Golden Punisher," and the definitely not antisemitic "Sir Rosenstein, perpetuator of Deep State debauchery."
