Tucker Carlson, the same guy who lost his job at Fox News and cost the network nearly $800 MILLION in legal damages for breathlessly promoting Donald Trump's thoroughly debunked Big Lie, apologized to the American public yesterday for "misleading people" about the MAGA cult leader and said he would be "tormented" by the decision to back the con man "for a long time to come."
For more than a decade, Carlson has dutifully carried Trump's incredibly dirty water, serving as an influential cheerleader and principal mouthpiece on everything from phantom voter fraud to anti-LGBTQ crusades to normalizing white nationalism to destroying public education.
But Tucker has soured on the imbecile-in-chief's handling of the Epstein scandal and his catastrophic war in Iran in recent months, and a chasm has opened between the former allies. Trump has retaliated in predictable fashion, with vindictive personal attacks and essentially excommunicating Carlson from the Republican Party still firmly in his grip.
During a podcast conversation that felt more like a therapy session yesterday with his brother, Buckley Carlson, a former speechwriter for Trump, Tucker bared his soul: "You wrote speeches for him, I campaigned for him. I mean, we’re implicated in this, for sure. It’s not enough to say, 'Well I changed my mind,' or like, 'Oh this is bad, I’m out.' It’s like in very small ways, but in real ways, you and me and millions of people like us are the reason this is happening right now." Correct! Except for the "very small ways" bit, anyway. Tucker is a BIG reason we're in this mess, and no apology washes that sin away, no matter how seemingly sincere.

Taking a page straight out of his petty boss man's book, FBI Director Kash Patel filed a $250 MILLION defamation lawsuit against The Atlantic for having the temerity to publish a well-researched and credibly sourced story about the former podcaster's proclivity for imbibing on the job. Keystone Kash, the guy we all saw partying like a fraternity pledge in a Team USA hockey locker room at this year's Winter Olympics, wants a cool quarter billion in defamatory damages because reporter Sarah Fitzpatrick pulled back one very heavy curtain and hurt his feelings.
The story wasn't based on an anonymous tip or a single, disgruntled employee, mind you. Fitzpatrick spoke to more than two dozen people, including current and former FBI officials, intelligence staff, political operatives, and others, who described Patel as "erratic" and a "national security vulnerability."
The Atlantic report said Patel was known to regularly drink to the point of "obvious intoxication" at a private Washington club and a Las Vegas lounge he frequented on weekends, and that his security team once had to use SWAT team-style breaching equipment because Patel was unreachable in a room behind locked doors. We're no legal experts, but it sure seems like Kash is the one defaming his character.

Wife of active-duty US Army sergeant detained by ICE in Texas at immigration appointment
The Trump regime's contempt and disregard for people who actually keep America safe and embody its ideals truly knows no bounds. Sgt. First Class Jose Serrano has served in the US Army for nearly three decades, including three tours in Afghanistan, literally risking his life for his homeland. Serrano, 51, sustained a traumatic brain injury on duty and now suffers from PTSD and depression.
Trump's hardline immigration goons have rewarded Serrano's service by taking his wife and primary source of support, Deisy Rivera Ortega, away from him, throwing her in a concentration camp, and putting her on a fast track to deportation to Mexico — a country where she has zero connections.
Ortega was arrested by ICE on April 14 during a routine appointment at an immigration office in El Paso. Ortega entered the country illegally in 2016, but was granted legal protection in 2019 prohibiting her deportation to her native El Salvador, US immigration court documents show. But Stephen Miller and Trump's other white nationalist ghouls want (Brown) people like Ortega out, and they're trying to deport her to Mexico. "I don't really understand why, because she followed the rules of immigration by the T since day one," Serrano said, noting his wife had an active work permit at the time of her arrest. What the hell are we DOING here, people?
Palantir CEO publishes supervillain manifesto
The deeply evil spy tech company Palantir's CEO, Alex Karp, published an openly fascist "manifesto," in which he championed the development of AI weapons, an end to the "postwar neutering" of Germany and Japan(???), and America's need for universal conscription. He also warned against "the shallow temptation of a vacant and hollow pluralism." It is just another sign that Karp is the latest tech CEO to fall under the delusion that he alone has the messianic right to decide how American society is organized, what its values should be, and how it should interact with other countries across the world — and wouldn't you know it, his ideas are both violent AND racist!

Georgia Republican Rich McCormick rushed to Kash Patel's defense yesterday, feigning ignorance on rumors of the FBI director's affinity for the sauce and insisting that what people do in "their spare time" is "their business."
This half-baked hot take no one asked for might pass the smell test if we were talking about a 25-year-old Army private on a weekend pass, or someone who works in landscaping or the food service industry, but Patel, 46, is in charge of the frickin' Federal Bureau of Investigation, the country's top domestic intelligence service and federal law enforcement agency. He oversees 38,000 employees and controls an annual operating budget just shy of $10 billion. Getting hammered — on or off the job — and blacking out behind locked doors is a huge liability, and depending on how loose-lipped Kash is after tying one on, an obvious potential threat to national security.

Israeli soldiers and settlers are using gendered violence and sexual assault and harassment to force Palestinians from their homes in the occupied West Bank, human rights and legal experts say. Palestinian women, men and children have reported attacks, forced nudity, invasive and painful body cavity searches, Israelis exposing their genitals, including to minors, and threats of sexual violence.
Sixteen cases of conflict-related sexual violence were recorded by researchers for the West Bank Protection Consortium over the last three years, a figure that is likely an under-reporting because of the shame and stigma faced by survivors. Other forms of reported violence include urinating on Palestinians, taking and distributing humiliating photographs of bound and stripped individuals, stalking women who are using latrines, and threatening sexual violence against women. The case studies are anonymized because of the stigma surrounding sexual violence.
