I’ve been fighting Trump since February of 2016. Not because it was popular—it definitely wasn’t back then. I did it because someone had to investigate him and document what was really happening, while corporate media was too busy sanewashing his disgusting brand of fascism.
Our independent journalism is accountable only to readers, not advertisers or billionaires. Every day, I track down the resistance wins that corporate media ignores. Then I organize readers to take action on social media and to contact their representatives in the House and Senate. And all of it is creating tangible change for the resistance.
If that’s something you can get behind, please join us as a paid subscriber today:
Trump Is Losing: Florida County Blocks His Immigration Prison, ICE Trackers Win In Court, and Hawaii Beats The Regime
Plus, public broadcasting gets back on track
The resistance is handing the regime losses all across the country. This edition is proof. Hit the ❤️ like button and re-stack right now to help us get these stories in front of the people who need to see them.
ICE TRACKER GROUPS WIN IN COURT
Last year, Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem bragged about pressuring Facebook to remove a group that tracked ICE raids. Kassandra Rosado, who ran a 76,000-member Chicago Facebook group, was one of the plaintiffs who sued after her group vanished overnight.
Bondi and Noem posted about the takedown on social media like they had just won a trophy.
On Friday, US District Judge Jorge Alonso called the pressure campaign unconstitutional government censorship. Ruling that the regime violated the First Amendment when they pushed tech companies to silence speech they didn’t like, the judge issued a preliminary injunction which blocks any more government coercion of tech companies to remove ICE-trackers.
After the ruling, Rosado went ahead and launched a new group on Facebook—it will likely cross 50,000 members today. Bondi and Noem were both fired, but Rosado’s group is back and stronger than ever.
BIG OIL LOSES IN HAWAII
The DOJ took Hawaii to court in April 2025 to try and stop the state from suing oil companies over their role in the climate crisis. Hawaii sued BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil, and Shell the next day anyway.
Last Friday, US District Judge Helen Gillmor threw out Trump’s bogus lawsuit against Hawaii. She ruled they couldn’t sue a state to prevent a lawsuit that hadn’t happened yet. It’s the second time this year judges have rejected Trump’s oil company protection scheme—a judge in Michigan issued the same ruling in January.
Hawaii’s climate case proceeds. Big oil lost their federal shield.
TRUMP TRIED TO KILL PUBLIC RADIO. HE FAILED.
Trump and Congress cut $1.1 billion from public broadcasting in 2025, and shut down the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in January. Public broadcasting was supposed to collapse—it took off instead.
Connie Ballmer just donated $80 million to NPR—the largest gift ever from a living donor. Plus, an anonymous donor added $33 million, and major foundations committed $36.5 million. Beyond those major gifts, public media gained 120,000 new donors and $70 million in additional annual giving since the cuts took effect.
On March 31, US District Judge Randolph Moss ruled the funding cut was unconstitutional—a clear First Amendment violation designed to punish news outlets Trump didn’t like.
The regime not only lost in federal court, it triggered a tsunami of public support.
FLORIDA COUNTY SQUASHES ICE DEAL
In Florida, Bradford County Commissioners planned to lease an enormous warehouse to DHS to imprison 3,000 detained immigrants for $1,000 per year. They were practically giving away public property for a shady detention facility.
Local residents weren’t having it. Community members showed up to the April 15 commissioners’ meeting and killed the proposal. “Are you protecting county property—or giving it away too cheaply?” asked Sierra Club member Sarah Younger.
After massive pushback, the motion failed. No detention center. No sweetheart deal. No caging people for profit.
This is how a regime loses. Not in one dramatic made-for-tv collapse—but via every community meeting where people show up and force the government to act. Every court decision that goes our way. Every time people take a stand when the regime counts on us being silent. Every town that stands up and says no.
Now is the time for us to take our momentum and use it to flip Congress in November.
We will continue to release our daily reports to dismantle MAGA propaganda. We’ll use our social media network to generate billions of monthly impressions and break through their algorithms. And we’ll keep flooding Congress with contacts—we’ve driven millions since we started.
The regime stole our democracy. You can help us take it all back by joining us as a paid subscriber today:

JUST A FEW OF MANY INFORMED COMMENTS:
Public broadcasting has been a positive impact on society for many years. My only thoughts on why it has come under fire is because it’s informative, its educational and it’s very popular so I assume that #trumpsBillionaires figure they could tilt the news in their favor and that their wealthy kids didn’t need the values learned on Sesame Street and they could make more $ by stopping that outlet. They sent in Kari Lake! Americans love PBS AND THEY SUPPORTED IT financially and they sent her packing. Bravo for the courts upholding Hawaii’s lawsuit on big oil. All of the DOJ lawsuits are for #trumpsRetribution or #trumpsBillionaires to make money. I hope Todd Blanch doesn’t last as long as Bondi did!
I think public broadcasting threatened trump’s viciously anti-DEI agenda, it educated and relied extensively on science and the quality programming undermined project 2025’s mission.
Like everything trump tries to crush, the end result tends to be the opposite. Thank God, more often than not, his efforts lose “in federal court, [and trigger] a tsunami of public support”, as you say, Scott.
Yay!
Well, PBS was a double whammy for don-old. He lost court and created a major outflow of people donating money.
Shouldn’t DOJ realize that their lawsuit was bogus trying to stop Hawaii from suing oil companies regarding their role in the climate crisis even BEFORE Hawaii filed suit.
It is the Resistance that will ultimately prevail. WE ARE THE RESISTANCE!! Onward…
I am so happy for PBS/NPR!! And so heartened by the donors - Connie Ballmer and the other donors are amaaaazing… talk about putting your money where your mouth (ethic) is!
Having grown up on Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, Zoom, The Electric Company and all the science and nature shows on PBS, I can say that, while my parents and schooling raised and educated me, I still remember the fun I had, not realizing these shows were strengthening the values and learning I was receiving. And as an adult, NPR has been a trusted news (etc) source.
I owe public broadcasting a lot. Thanks for this info, Scott! Yay!
The massive outpouring of support for public broadcasting FINALLY is hitting home; those children now adults remember Big Bird and the gang that taught all sorts of kindness, inclusivity, and important knowledge for getting around life and its bullies. The thought of losing that sweet kind of guidance on TV, streaming, whatev, all that loss more than likely woke them up bigly.
Hawaii’s lawsuit against big oil should be followed by every state and territory that is on or near the waters around us all. Tomorrow is Earth Day; however, we should be thinking about our Earth's health as a big mirror for us to view and quickly to want healthy and strong not weak and dying--we may want that for some people, perhaps, but not for our home.
Ok, I understand this is peculiar and not really proper English, as a state isn’t a person, but Hawaii is now topping my hero list!
I wonder if all the states, or even just the blue ones, could file a class action suit against Big Oil (and trump) about climate change? Follow HI’s lead! God knows, the damage done is vast, far reaching, deadly and causation is scientifically provable (indeed, provEN). The perpetrators MUST be *STOPPED* and PUNISHED.
This is exactly why we fight every single day.
The resistance is handing the regime real losses, one community, one courtroom, and one donation at a time. November is coming and momentum is on our side.
Keep pushing, my friends. Onward!

I'm sitting in the ridiculous cold at my rural VA polling place, at our VOTE YES for temporary redistricting table. We're 70% red. We depend on getting ALL our blue voters out (most Dems vote early, so the polling locations are skewed MAGA). It's a hard place to sit.
We need our high-density areas blue voters to show up today. 🙏🏼🤞🏼🙏🏼
Thank you for so much good news.
I love Hawaii’s lawsuit against big oil and the judge’s ruling against Trump.
And I totally support National Public Radio and have increased my donations. Very grateful to everyone who has done this, and for those who have given large gifts!
Carry on, resisters!!
WHETHER IT'S DATA CENTERS OR ICEE GESTAPO WAREHOUSES, the tactics are similar:
SECRECY! Communities cannot and will not absorb the impacts!
From SOUTHERN ENVIRONMMENTAL LAW CENTER:
Tell me if this sounds acceptable to you:
A private company comes into your community to build a data center. To get it done, they cut secret deals with local governments. They hide information about the project from your neighbors. And when that data center does get built, it spews air pollution, generates constant noise, sucks up your community’s water, and gets fueled by dirty methane gas.
Meanwhile, your power bill keeps going up.
It all sounds like a movie plot, but this is how data centers are getting built in communities across the South. It’s why SELC, powered by your generosity, is developing a playbook for fighting back.
And it’s why I’m humbly asking for your support today. Your advocacy is so important to SELC’s mission, and now a group of donors will match your gift $1 for $1 to help us pump the brakes on data centers. Earth Day is just a day away; will you help us make it matter by doubling your impact for our Southern environment?
With your help, SELC is tackling the data center challenge from every angle:
We’ve created reports for local governments that give practical, usable tips on how to address data center development in a responsible, transparent way.
We’ve done the math to show why it’s unlikely that enough data centers will materialize to justify the massive buildout of electricity generation facilities proposed by the South’s monopoly utilities.
When necessary, we’ve taken a sharper approach — we’re working with communities on the ground to file citizen suits against data centers that violate federal law.
SELC isn’t anti-technology or anti-progress. We’re just making sure that amidst this gold rush, our communities and our Southern environment don’t get left behind.
Because so much of the data center buildout is happening right now, every dollar you contribute can make an outsized impact on SELC’s response. If you’re able, please make your gift today, and it will go twice as far toward keeping up the fight this Earth Month.
COMMON DREAMS offered the article below about TODAY MIKE JOHNSON and MAGA MAGGOTS promoting an EXTINCTION BILL that threatens all species. Watch for your favorite conservation organizations to organize and speak out!
Mike Johnson to Unleash ‘Catastrophic’ Attack on Endangered Species Act
“When wildlife is already under immense pressure from habitat destruction, climate change, pollution, and industrial development, Congress should be strengthening the Endangered Species Act,” said one advocate.

DIRTY ENERGY studied CLIMATE CHANGE and worked aggressively to SILENCE SCIENCE.
DIRTY ENERGY was fully aware of the consequences and even included in DOCUMENTS presented to the courts that by the time the consequences were known to the public, it would be TOO LATE TO AMEND THE DAMAGE!
There was a recent report about OCEAN WARMING threatening to change GLOBAL OCEAN CURRENTS that I was unable to locate quickly.
As a footnote, ALL RENEWABLES are now CHEAPER than DIRTY ENERGY!
I am a firm believer in REDUCE YOUR CONSUMPTION! We can ALL do it!
I've surely bored lots of people by posting just the simple basics, but they work!
