We just started 2026 and already have lots of good news for people and the planet! Our regenerative farming work achieved a major milestone: Whole Foods Market officially approved our Soil & Climate Initiative verification label for display in their stores! Shoppers at Whole Foods will be able to shop for products with the label and support farmers and brands nationwide working to benefit consumers, wildlife, water, and climate through regenerative agriculture. We're also driving major advancements in renewable energy. Last year we got Comcast to double its clean energy! Our work demanding companies like Comcast, AT&T, and Verizon adopt renewables resulted in several of the largest corporate solar and wind purchases in history. Now, our new campaign calling on Big Tech to power AI with renewable energy is making waves – with media coverage nationwide and thousands of consumers calling on tech companies to protect communities and the planet. Amazon and Meta are talking about using renewable energy for AI, but at the same time are relying on fossil fuels and nukes for their massive servers. To get them and other AI titans to commit to renewable energy for every data center, we’ll be working with communities, consumers, and shareholders to increase the pressure on Big Tech this year. We’re raising awareness and proposing solutions to child labor in the U.S. We’ve gotten over 18,000 people to send nearly 550,000 emails to leaders of large meatpacking companies asking them to take action to end child labor in slaughterhouses.  That outpouring of concern matters at a time when federal enforcement of workplace protections is collapsing – companies need to know that consumers will hold them to account when the current administration is not. We’re also supporting bipartisan legislation in Congress, the Justice for Exploited Children Act, that would introduce a minimum monetary penalty for companies caught using child labor and increase penalties overall. From 2015 to 2022, violations of child labor laws increased by 283%—with some of the most dangerous cases occurring in meatpacking plants. The Problem: Children have been found working overnight cleaning crews in slaughterhouses, surrounded by heavy machinery that can cause severe injuries. This work is legally restricted to adults because it is far too dangerous for minors, yet major meatpacking companies have been linked to child labor violations in recent years. These companies include JBS, Perdue, Cargill, and Tyson Foods. When corporations put profits over people, children pay the price.
