Monday Afternoon News Updates as Fallout Grows over Trump Regime's Latest Murder — 1/26/26
Trump is now scrambling for an off-ramp...
By Ben Meiselas
Hi all. Let me get right into it today. Things have gotten very ugly for Donald Trump over the past 24 hours. This weekend was a breaking point for so many Americans after yet another American was murdered by the Trump regime. His name was Alex Pretti. They killed him in cold blood. Then they lied about it. Over. And over. And over again.
Even many of the regime’s staunchest defenders know that what transpired over the weekend was unforgivable, and the way the regime handled the situation made things even worse. To give you a sense of what I’m referring to, even Texas Governor Greg Abbott said earlier that ICE needs to “recalibrate” its mission after this weekend’s shooting. Our researchers have been watching Fox, and even they are struggling to defend what took place, with some of their hosts openly showing their disdain for the regime’s narrative.
And even now Donald Trump appears to be caving. After days of escalating rhetoric, lies, and authoritarian posturing, Trump abruptly shifted his tone on Monday as public outrage over the cold-blooded killing of Alex Jeffrey Pretti in Minneapolis continues to intensify. The pressure is working, and Trump is doing what he always does when cornered. He is trying to rewrite history and pretend he was reasonable all along. How dare he.
Earlier today, Trump posted that he had a “very respectful” call with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and that the two were on a similar wavelength. That post landed just hours after Trump had once again attacked Minnesota, defamed its leadership, and used the murder of Pretti as a pretext to threaten the state with more ICE and Border Patrol incursions. The whiplash was immediate and revealing of the data Trump was likely receiving in real time.
Trump claimed that Governor Walz asked to work together and that he told Walz he would have Tom Homan call him, adding that they were looking for “any and all criminals” Minnesota supposedly had in its possession. He went on to assert that Walz was happy about Homan going to Minnesota and that crime was already down, but that they both wanted to make it better. I’d like to get the governor’s take on all this, as we know Trump is a pathological liar.
Let’s be clear. Crime in Minnesota was already down before Trump’s federal agents flooded the state. That is due to the work of Governor Walz and local law enforcement, not Trump’s tactics. Trump himself had spent days calling Walz a felon, mocking him with juvenile nicknames, and openly calling for his arrest. He defamed the governor repeatedly, including just hours before posting this supposed olive branch. This is nothing more than capitulation dressed up as bravado. It’s yet another attempt to save face.
We have seen this pattern before. Trump threatens, bullies, and escalates until people stand up to him. When that happens, he looks for an off-ramp and pretends the entire confrontation ended in a friendly handshake. He did it with Greenland and Denmark after floating threats that bordered on invasion. He is doing it again now as Minnesotans and Americans across the country refuse to be intimidated. But the blood will forever remain on his hands.
The contrast between Trump’s morning and afternoon posts tells the real story. Earlier in the day, Trump announced that he was sending Tom Homan to Minnesota, claiming a massive welfare fraud scheme of more than $20 billion and absurdly suggesting it was responsible for “violent, organized protests.” He attacked Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, questioning her legitimacy and spreading lies about her wealth. JD Vance eagerly reposted the message, amplifying the lies.
Then, suddenly, Trump wanted the country to believe he and Governor Walz were partners working together respectfully. Nothing changed in Minnesota between those posts. What changed was the pressure.
I can’t emphasize this enough. This pressure is coming from everywhere. It is coming from communities that are peacefully protesting and refusing to be silenced. It is coming from Americans who do not want masked federal agents shooting people in the streets. It is even coming from Trump’s own supporters.
The regime’s narrative around Alex Pretti collapsed in real time. Trump officials and allies initially smeared him as a domestic terrorist who intended to massacre law enforcement. Stephen Miller said exactly that. So did senior officials at the Department of Homeland Security. JD Vance retweeted messages with those claims. They claimed Pretti approached agents with a firearm and reacted violently, forcing them to act in self-defense.
Video evidence immediately obliterated that story. Pretti was legally carrying a firearm with a permit. He was not brandishing it. He was not threatening anyone. The agents did not even know he had a firearm on his person prior to attacking him like a bunch of two-bit thugs. He was recording on his phone and attempting to render aid to a woman who had been pepper sprayed and thrown to the ground by federal agents. A Border Patrol agent removed the gun from Pretti’s holster. Once he was disarmed, beaten, and helpless on the ground, he was shot and killed. Executed at point-blank range. At least 10 shots fired at an ICU nurse who was simply trying to help a woman assaulted by Trump’s goons.
Even Fox News hosts began pushing back as the facts became undeniable. Todd Blanche, the regime’s number two at the Department of Justice, was forced to retreat on air, conceding that no one was seriously invoking the legal definition of domestic terrorism. He referred to the killing as a tragedy and said the facts were still being gathered. That was quite the admission from Trump’s number two at the DOJ.
The Wall Street Journal editorial board, hardly a liberal outlet, published an op-ed acknowledging that this situation was backfiring on Republicans. Yet even that editorial attempted to hedge by claiming Pretti “made a mistake.” He did not. Peacefully protesting is a First Amendment right. Legally carrying a firearm is a Second Amendment right. Rendering aid to someone who has been assaulted by law enforcement is not a crime.
The regime’s defenders have exposed their own hypocrisy. For years, they wrapped themselves in the Second Amendment, insisting that gun ownership is sacred. Now they argue that simply having a gun at a protest means the government can execute you on the spot. They were never absolutists about constitutional rights. They only care about power and control.
What makes this moment different is that people are refusing to accept it. Trump supporters are publicly breaking with him. Some are burning their MAGA hats. Others are writing that they can no longer support a president who believes exercising constitutional rights warrants a death sentence. One supporter wrote that this is no longer about politics but about basic human decency. That kind of reckoning is exactly what authoritarian movements fear most.
Finally, we are seeing celebrities and athletes begin to speak out, as well. The National Basketball Players Association led the charge yesterday, with a statement noting that “NBA players can no longer remain silent,” adding, “Now more than ever, we must defend the right to freedom of speech and stand in solidarity with the people in Minnesota protesting and risking their lives to demand justice.”
The ripple effects are spreading. Even prominent Republicans are starting to peel away. Ron DeSantis is attacking the regime over economic failures as the dollar weakens. In Minnesota, a leading Republican candidate for governor dropped out, saying he could not be part of a national party that is terrorizing his state. These are not isolated incidents. They are signs of a regime under strain.
And the violence is not isolated either. Alex Pretti is not the only victim. In 2026 alone, ICE and Border Patrol have killed at least nine people. Their names deserve to be remembered. Individuals like Renee Good and Keith Porter.
The circumstances of these deaths are horrific, including cases initially labeled as suicides that later showed signs of strangulation. The pattern is unmistakable, and so is the attempt to cover it up. Never trust the regime’s narratives. Ever.
All of this is unfolding as the regime stumbles from crisis to crisis. Measles outbreaks are surging across the country in a way that should be unthinkable in a developed nation. The administration continues to lie about Greenland and Denmark, even as those countries provide universal health care that Americans can only dream of. And now we are staring down yet another potential government shutdown, with Speaker Mike Johnson sending the House into recess and refusing to even address the killing of Pretti.
Trump is backing down not because he has found his conscience, but because he is being confronted. Peaceful protest works. Community solidarity works. Standing up to bullies works. So let’s keep doing it.
Later today, Ron Filipkowski will publish his news bulletin so everyone can catch up on the stories you may have missed. And tonight at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT, my brothers and I will be live with the MeidasTouch Podcast on YouTube. Make sure to tune in and add the show on your favorite podcast apps. We will keep covering this, holding the powerful accountable, and telling the truth no matter how hard the regime tries to run from it.

Here is some good refreshing news for a change:
"I was working as a waitress at a truck stop diner when an older trucker came in looking devastated. He ordered coffee but barely touched it, just sat there with his head in his hands. 'Rough day?' I asked. He looked up with red eyes. 'I just got the call. My wife had a stroke. She's in ICU three states away and I can't afford to fly. By the time I drive there...'
He couldn't finish. I told him I'd be right back. I went to every trucker in that diner and explained quietly. Within twenty minutes, they'd pooled together $1,200 in cash. I brought it to his table. 'There's an airport 40 miles from here. You can make the last flight tonight.' He stared at the money, then at all of us, completely speechless. 'I don't... I can't...' An older driver stood up. 'We're all out here away from family. We take care of our own. Go be with your wife.'
He made that flight. Three weeks later, he came back with his wife, recovering, using a walker but smiling. They had breakfast with every trucker they could find from that night. She hugged each one, crying. He handed me an envelope with all the money back plus extra. 'For the next driver who needs help.' That envelope is still going five years later. We've helped fourteen families." —Sandra M., Oklahoma City, OK
These are the kind of stories we need to hear right now. To be reminded that good still exists in this country. Because some days all we hear about is lies and corruption and decay at the very top. It’s exhausting. And unfortunately, that’s all part of a vile plan for distraction from issues that are trying to be covered up.
This is an example of compassion, generosity and people who help others. Thank you. So nice to hear and read the values of the greatest generation of my parents still matter.
Beautiful news. Thank you for sharing. It moves me to tears. People are good. We can’t forget that they are evil people in this world and they’re running our government. Let’s vote them out and let’s make sure this never happens again.
W H Y has no one asked….. W H Y did the CBP Thugs shove the woman? That is what initiated this tragedy. Pretti was compelled to defend her (his tragic mistake)…and resisted when CBP tried to stop him from assisting her, so they murdered him for resisting. BUT I ASK….W H Y DID CBP SHOVE HER AT ALL? ? That set up this event. Do they pick on women to get men to react? Someone please focus on this BS.
There are still souls who care in America no matter how hard Trump tries to break us. Don’t let him take that caring for each other away. I’m not very religious but I care for my fellow humans & I give a give a small amount to someone who needs in a low paying job every now & then just to brighten their day. Sometimes when A manager is being unkind to them openly just to let them know that someone knows they care . I’m not rich but I can do without that extra pastry to see a smile. It’s little acts that help too. Blessings to all those in that diner.
This reminds me of friend of ours, a former trucker now dealing with Parkinson’s. We wrote this song as a tribute to him, but it could just as easily be for that kind waitress and all the truckers who stepped up to the plate. This is off topic and a post I've seen a couple times now with different scenarios, it's a nice story but not sure it's real.
Let's hear what Walz has to say about this "perfect" phony call.
I want every one of the thugs who attacked and killed Alex Pretti charged with murder. Nothing less is unacceptable. His poor parents, my heart breaks for them.
I have written to the state prosecutors. Minnesota has two laws: One is brandishing a gun to threaten or harm someone. bingo all agents ICE and BP carry guns to threaten people. a CRIME. Also the act of threatening violence applies to the head guys BOVINO and NOEM. Minnesota has the right and obligation to lock them up under state law. Immediately
I’m with you Judi. But they have been moved out of the city and they were all wearing masks. Outside of demanding they be turned over to state authorities, what else can be done? What are the legal steps that state authorities can take to secure their apprehension? Any lawyers out there who want to weigh in?
Now is not the time to let up on pressure to Trump. He needs to be finished for good. Expose everything and keep it up.
No one is ever glad to see (or hear) Mumbles McGee Tom Homan.
Exactly! Why would Tim Walz be "happy" to see him? WTF?! Sounds like a big ass lie to me!
Walz probably threatened to call out the national guard to protect the protesters
Actually the MN Nat'l Guard was seen handing out coffee and donuts to protesters in St. Paul on Sunday. WCCO-TV was told that this was a "demonstration of safety and security."
I read that! That was a clever tactic.
He should do it and not just threaten. We were screwed in California last summer when Trump federalized our National Guard against us to protect the gestapo! If you recall, he also deployed the military (Marines) to protect the gestapo as well. I assure you, none of this was needed. Our local law enforcement had it under control. Trump was testing the waters to see how far he could go. Bringing in the marines and our national guard to protect the gestapo only intensified emotions and anger.
NOBODY is ever happy to see that fucxing scumbag Tom "$50,000 in a lunch bag" Homan!
We can’t forget everyone in ICE detention being tortured and abused 💞
And murdered!!
NO FORGIVENESS... NO SURRENDER. TRUMP IS NOT CAVING. HE IS A CON, A FRAUD.
THIS IS A PERFECT TIME TO TAKE DOWN JD WEIRDO.
Yeah, how many award badges did you earn from killing Alex Pretti? We understand you demons were standing there counting the bullet holes his body? You f’g demonic goblins!
Why is Kyle Rittenhouse still walking the Earth??
How does it work with the AG Kieth Ellison of Minnesota to prosecute these Goons of Border Patrol? There must be a state trial to have them held accountable! Do the shooters have names? Is this a secret?
ICE and Border Patrol know who they are. That's how they could say one is an 8-year BP agent. Whether the state if MN will ever get those names, even if a court orders disclosure, is an open question.
No ICE is just moving to Maine
Why is the media once again giving trump a pass? now the media is shifting blame off trump. BS
Wow! Gov. Abbott even condemned the regime? I guess these MAGAts are starting to come around after all? Let's hope so! Good idea to get Gov. Walz take on his call with Trump. Can't believe a word that comes out of his vile mouth!
They're not coming around. They can read the polls.
Very true! He is truly a piece of work and EVIL piece of shit! I love the nickname Jasmine Crockett has for him! You're right, he can't RUN from a bullet; literally!
True. The Orange Pedo still has too much of an approval rating! 😤
Abbott is as ignorant and cruel as dumpty. But he understands that in his OPEN CARRY state, we are all ready to kill each other over this regime's lawlessness. And he can't stop the shooting once it starts. Abbott is effin' terrified! He can't run from a bullet!
After the UVALDE SCHOOL SHOOTING, ABBOTT rushed in the opposite direction to a fundraiser, never spoke to the families that lost children, never offered to pay funeral costs.
When parts of TEXAS were without power, ABBOTT did nothing, TED CRUZ ran to CAN CUN - where he is now.
It was those DASTARDLY LIBS across the country who raised funds for FOOD, BLANKETS and all else needed. AOC worked tirelessly.
That's CARING & that's AMERICA!
ABBOTT planted barbed wire to prevent immigrants from landing and lots of other barbaric tactics.
If TEXANS had any brains, they would have replaced him quickly.
there can be no doubt both shootings in Minnesota were cold blooded murder by out of control masked untrained ICE and border agents 🤬 WTF is border guards doing in Minnesota anyway 🤨 and cutting back training from 5 months to 47 days is absolutely outrageous 😡 I wouldn't be surprised if they got these pieces of shit from the proud boys and Jan 6th criminals that the orange dictator pardoned 🤬🤬🤬
Leavitt is still at it this Monday afternoon - blaming the victims and Democrats for the shooting.
BLEACH BLOND BRAIN DEAD KAROLINE LEAVITT - just when you thought no one could be as bad as her predecessors....
You can look out the White House window and see the statue of LAFAYETTE, yet she made her ignorant comments after a French person made a comment about the STATUE OF LIBERTY - she was too stupid to look up who that person was. (The US won the REVOLUTION with the help of the FRENCH.)
She continues to prove her ignorance.
The person who defeated her in NEW HAMPSHIRE is running for election CHRIS PAPPAS

While true, I think there's an important caveat about what's happened in Minneapolis that materially contributes to the pressure and reaction across the US to the murders of Alex Pretti and Renee Good ... not only were they US citizens executed extra-judicially while non-violently exercising Constitutional rights and, they were WHITE US citizens, and whether fair or not, that fact helped boost the level of outrage in the country ... even among MAGAts. What about the other people of color who have either been murdered or otherwise died in DHS custody? All are part of the same US gestapo victimization and should be fully recognized as such. It's not just the murders of Good and Pretti that are outrageous ... this gestapo activity is NOT the America I spent 38 years of my life protecting as an active duty member, enlisted and officer.
NO ONE IS FORGETTING THOSE WHO HAVE DIED IN ICE GESTAPO CUSTODY!
It is not simply that they were WHITE US CITIZENS.
There are far too many deaths in ICE custody that should have been investigated, likely prosecuted.
The first issue is that those deaths occurred out of public view.
The 2nd issue is they/their families lack the ability to attract media attention - they're invisible - but no longer.
Those 2 public executions were surrounded by people recording ICE GESTAPO ABUSE in VIDEOS - there's evidence! It's UNDENIABLE!
Every ICE GESTAPO DEATH needs to be investigated and a CAUSE OF DEATH determination needs to be conducted by an INDEPENDENT AGENCY & QUALIFIED MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL. No more: SUICIDE, NATURAL CAUSES, or unspecified/untreated MEDICAL ISSUE.
WHY ARE WE PAYING FOR CONCENTRATION CAMPS & FOR PROFIT DETENTION CENTERS? If ICE GESTAPO can't deport them and they're not criminals, STOP ARRESTING THEM! These are the workers who make our economy run.
The BIG BEAUTIFUL DISASTER destroyed HEALTH CARE & FOOD PROGRAMS to pay for MASS DEPORTATION LUNACY & CONCENTRATION CAMPS? And they want MORE?
In fairness, there is a great deal of information that is overwhelming about ICE GESTAPO ABUSE in other sources.

Treason has occurred. America must have justice. Apologies, impeachment etc... Nada. Treason has death penalty offense
DHS, Miller and Noem are losing crediability fast!
As someone who had Noem as a governor I will tell you she can look you straight in the face and lie blatantly and it doesn't phase her a bit!
She tried to pressure a state employee to let her daughter take a real estate appraiser test again (I think she had failed it 3 times) but the employee pushed back to uphold the law that after so many tries they are done. The employee was pressured to resign, sued and won.
Noem took taxpayer money and gave SD business to out of state firms which often had ties to herself or her friends.
She spent over $600,000 on the state credit card on her travels to political functions often where she was the speaker and promoting herself as well as to Alaska for a bear hunt.
She spent taxpayer money to put a TV station in at the capital so she could easily get on television shows.
Unfortunately she didn't lose much support until she wrote her book. I guess SD citizens don't like people shooting their dogs that they are incapable of training.
I think the book was her effort to apply for this job. Lewandowski knew Trump and Miller wanted someone that was 'tough' for head of DHS who could promote cruelty and lie. Besides the cruelty of her shooting her animals she put in the big lie about staring down Kim Jong Un and got called out for it.
I hope she gets removed and then Congress audits the DHS books because I guarantee you Krisit and her friends probably made some good money with their positions! Follow the money and investigate every business she sent taxpayer money to!
This from SCOTT DWORKIN:
NOEM EMBARRASSED ON SUNDAY SHOW
Yesterday, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem got called out while trying to spread her propaganda. When Noem was asked about the ICE officer who killed Renee Nicole Good, Noem feigned outrage, saying that identifying Officer Jonathan Ross was dangerous doxxing. It was a sad attempt to deflect, as the officer’s name is already public knowledge.
And Noem unraveled when the host called out one of her lies. Noem claimed that 70% of the people arrested by immigration agents had criminal backgrounds, before she was brutally fact-checked with her own agency’s data—which puts the figure at 47%. So of course Noem kept lying and called the Trump regime’s numbers wrong. It was absolutely unhinged.
REP. ROBIN KELLY ON IMPEACHING NOEM
Yesterday, I had an exclusive interview with Dem Rep. Robin Kelly about her filing articles of impeachment against DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. More than 50 Democrats have already signed on to the move, and we’ve now sent over 17,000 letters to members of Congress—urging them to do the same.
Noem “has got to be stopped,” Kelly stated. “Enough is enough … she is breaking the law.” Kelly also clearly laid out the three articles of impeachment against Noem: “Obstruction of Congress … violation of public trust … and self-dealing.”
At the end of the interview, Kelly shared some powerful words of inspiration, saying: “Don’t get weary, don’t get lost in the chaos. And don’t let anyone steal your joy. Everyone can make a little difference … everyone just has to try in their corner of the world.”
Rep. Kelly is absolutely right—the Trump regime hopes we get tired. They are counting on the chaos to exhaust us so they can abuse their power unchallenged.
That is not going to happen—not on our watch. We are more fired up than ever before.
