WE'VE ALL SEEN THE HORRIFIC RESCUES OF THESE DOGS KEPT IN CRAMPED
CAGES, LACKING ADEQUATE FOOD & WATER, CAGES FILLED WITH FECES,
EMACIATED ANIMALS, SOME EUTHANIZED DUE TO THEIR HORRIFIC CONDITIONS....
LET'S WORK TOGETHER TO STOP THIS ABUSE!

| I know it can be difficult to learn the disturbing details of abuse and neglect that takes place at large-scale breeders, sometimes called puppy mills. But what disturbs me more is how often this cruelty goes undetected or deliberately ignored by organizations that claim to care deeply about the welfare of dogs—like the American Kennel Club. Right now, the AKC not only continues to certify breeders that deny water, shelter and basic veterinary care for illnesses or injury to vulnerable mother dogs and puppies, but they are actively lobbying against commonsense legislation meant to protect these vulnerable animals. And we need your help to fight back. | Will you help push back against the AKC’s misguided campaigns by urging your representative to protect vulnerable puppies and dogs today? |

 | For over a decade, Humane World Action Fund, formerly called Humane Society Legislative Fund, along with our affiliate Humane World for Animals, formerly called the Humane Society of the United States, has exposed the worst offending puppy mills across the country in its annual Horrible Hundred Report. This year, a third of these worst offenders have ties to the AKC—in fact, some of this year’s Horrible Hundred breeders even advertise openly on the AKC’s official marketplace website! | Here’s just a glimpse of what our investigators found at AKC-linked breeders: | - Limping dogs, matted dogs and “nearly overwhelming” odor of animal waste
- Water receptacles contaminated with algae
- Dogs and puppies who were missing crucial vaccinations
- Ongoing lack of veterinary oversight
- Puppy deaths from preventable infections
- Dogs infested with lice and fleas and suffering untreated tumors
| This cruelty cannot continue—no matter what the AKC says. We need your help to fight back by calling on your representatives to pass the Puppy Protection Act, which would drastically improve the lives of dogs at USDA-licensed breeding facilities by requiring stronger standards of care. Don’t wait: For the sake of the helpless dogs and puppies trapped in these commercial breeding facilities across the country, please send a message to your representatives now. |
