Ted Cruz isn’t the only one who’s abandoned Texans during this shutdown. Our other Senator, John Cornyn, has too.
Yesterday, I showed up at Cornyn’s office with messages from the people he’s supposed to represent — Texans demanding that he stop the cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act that would kick millions off their health care.
But instead of listening, his staff locked the doors. They wouldn’t even accept letters written by his own constituents to be delivered. I’ve never seen any politician’s security contractors say, “no, letters from constituents cannot be accepted by this office.”
Cornyn doesn’t want to listen to the millions of Texans facing higher health care costs, but I’m going to make sure we’re too loud to ignore.
While government employees go without paychecks and working families face the threat of losing their health care, Cruz and Cornyn are hiding — doing the bidding of Donald Trump and their billionaire donors.
But locking the doors on us won’t stop me. I’ll continue to fight back, because Texans deserve leaders who show up, listen, and fight for them — not politicians who go behind closed doors to do the billionaires’ bidding.
And if you’re with me, I’m asking you to help us send that message loud and clear.

Our movement doesn’t have billionaire donors or corporate PACs. We’ve got something better: people who believe in a government that actually works for working families.
Let’s prove that when Republicans hide, working people organize — and we fight back stronger.
In solidarity,
Greg Casar
