Honoring the American worker

 

Today, on Labor Day, we honor the American worker and those who fought for the social and economic rights of workers across the United States. As the son of a union machinist — and the husband of a union nurse — I know the difference a union makes in delivering fair wages and the strong workplace protections that every worker deserves. Union membership transforms the lives of entire families of union members. Democrats in Congress have been working hard to put power back in the hands of workers, but Trump and his cronies are working overtime to rig the economy to favor powerful corporations. Now is the time to restore fairness in the workplace and make the economy work for everybody. Unions built the middle class, and they are crucial to growing and reinforcing an economy that rewards hard-working people. I will never stop fighting for working families and ensuring they have every opportunity to succeed. Onward!
