Tell Congress: Repeal tariffs on coffee

 

Two-thirds of American adults drink at least one cup of coffee per day. That’s about 400 million cups of coffee consumed in the U.S. daily.   Meanwhile, the U.S. supplies less than 1 percent of the coffee we drink. 80 percent of our coffee is imported from countries like Brazil, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Colombia. By slapping 15 to 20 percent tariffs on these countries, Trump is taxing Americans at the very start of their day.   That’s why I’m introducing bipartisan legislation to repeal tariffs on coffee.   Tell Congress: Repeal tariffs on coffee. Our country exists because our founders opposed an irrational tariff on tea. Reagan’s tariffs in the 1980s exempted coffee. A textbook example for why we have international trade is—you guessed it—coffee.
