By Ben Meiselas It’s officially June. The resistance grows stronger. The latest AtlasIntel Poll, which was the most reliable 2024 election poll, has Democrats up against Republicans 52–41 percent in a generic 2026 poll of the House of Representatives. We have seen Democrats winning special elections across the country in very red districts. The midterm elections are going to be here sooner than you think. There is an opportunity to send the most powerful message in history by repudiating Trump and giving Democrats control of the House and the Senate. The message from Republicans is most succinctly summed up by Iowa Republican Senator Joni Ernst, when she said at a town hall this past week, “we are all going to die.” Like Jim Jones, Trump has turned the GOP into a death cult. In a sense, I appreciate Ernst just going out and admitting it. She doubled down yesterday by making a morbid selfie video of herself at a cemetery telling people “you will die” and that life is essentially worthless, and you should focus on “eternal salvation with Jesus Christ” and not what happens in your life, she said. She actually said that—essentially word for word. Republicans don’t care that their policies kill people because killing people is the point. As long as Trump and his billionaire Mar-a-Lago pals get richer, the rest of Americans should die and suffer in service of enriching Trump. That is a sick and twisted message, but that is the Republican agenda. I just finished watching Governor Walz’s speech in South Carolina this weekend. Governor Walz said he’s been traveling to red states and red districts, and he’s been watching firsthand how pissed off the people in those districts are about their Republican legislators and Trump screwing them over. Governor Walz was hopeful, as am I, that Democrats can reassert themselves and flip states and districts back to blue. As I’ve said before, the key for Democrats is listening to people. Instead of trying to manufacture “the left’s Joe Rogan” or investing millions into a study on masculinity to persuade young white men to vote for you, Democrats need to do what Governor Walz said. Go and visit red states, but also go to purple and blue states, and listen to what people are saying. You will learn that people are pissed and scared that they can’t pay their rent and certainly can’t afford a home; people feel psychologically tortured living paycheck to paycheck; and people want free or affordable healthcare and education. People want to see the rich taxed more, people care about climate and the environment, people want common sense gun control, people want comprehensive immigration reform, and they support a path to citizenship for migrants who contribute to the country. Too often, Democrats are reacting to corporate news narratives, and they are ignoring what Americans are actually feeling and saying. Democrats find themselves perpetually trapped and frozen in right-wing frameworks which are traps set up to distract, deflect, and divide. Trying to fight and debate within the right-wing frameworks is like Sisyphus pushing the boulder up a mountain. Democrats need to ignore all that noise and simply present themselves as authentic fighters for the people. They need to be authentic fighters. That starts with listening to people. Caring about people. Then fighting for people because you truly care. The people want leaders at the protests. The people want to see Trump impeached for all the crimes he has committed already and that he commits on a daily basis. The people don’t want to hear that the Democrats are the minority in the House and Senate and thus can’t do anything. The people want to see Democrats use every procedural tool to block Trump’s murder bill and deadly agenda. Democrats need to do more shadow hearings. We will cover them on Meidas. The Democrats need to do more speeches and tours like the Bernie Sanders / AOC Fight the Oligarchy Tour. Democratic leaders should be present at and encourage peaceful protests. Democrats need to be out there more in front of voters and listening to them. On the podcast, you’ve heard me use the acronym ABC, which means Always Be Campaigning. Democrats need to always be campaigning for the hearts and minds of Americans. We will always cover the leaders who are fighting for the people. On this Sunday, the first day of June, I reflect on building this independent media network with you and how we’ve inspired others to do the same. I look at the independent media ecosystem, and I see the future. I see a brave new world of getting objective information to the people to counter the right-wing disinformation that is out there. The fact that the MeidasTouch Network gets more digital views than Fox, more podcast downloads than Rogan, and that we are one of the top Substacks after just starting in September gives me a huge amount of hope (Remember to add the MeidasTouch Podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify). As the resistance grows, Trump is viewed as a TACO, Elon Musk left the White House in disgrace (and with a black eye), and the regime is showing more cracks each day. We can’t relent. We have to increase the pressure now. It is more important now than ever that we continue to grow the MeidasTouch Network. We need your help. Please subscribe to the MeidasTouch Substack now and help us grow. We have zero investors, and we’ve been able to grow thanks to your support. If you are already a subscriber, you can always gift a subscription to someone you know. Subscribe now. Thanks for hanging out with me this Sunday. |
