Letitia James Won't Back Down and More Great News That's Terrible For TrumpOnward! We’ve made it through another disastrous week of the most corrupt administration in American history, so I’m glad to have more good news for you. I appreciate you taking the time to read this—it means a lot. Let’s jump in. Protests and community actions are happening across the country and even worldwide today. I’m expecting a great turnout. Let me know if you plan on attending! There were a couple of big wins in the courts yesterday. Late last night, in a surprise 7-2 decision, The Supreme Court blocked the deportation of some Venezuelans, rejecting the Trump administration’s attempts to invoke an archaic wartime statute. Of course, Alito and Thomas dissented—because they’re just plain horrible. Judge Amy Berman Jackson halted the firing of around 1,500 employees at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The judge said layoffs are “not going to happen,” for now. Last year alone, CFPB helped return $1.8 billion to more than 4 million Americans. There is no one who benefits from the closing of CFPB except enormous corporations. Shutting the agency’s doors is nothing more than blatant corruption. Following his return from El Salvador, Dem Sen. Chris Van Hollen spoke about his meeting with Abrego Garcia. Sen. Van Hollen said it plainly: “We need to end the illegal abduction of Kilmar Abrego Garcia and bring him home.” Van Hollen also said: “This case is not just about one man, it’s about protecting the constitutional rights of everybody who resides in the United States of America … If you deny the constitutional rights of one man, you threaten the constitutional rights and due process for everyone else in America.” New York Attorney General Letitia James struck back against the Trump regime for accusing her of crimes, saying: “The allegations are nothing more than a revenge tour.” James didn’t pull any punches when going after the administration: “Thousands of federal employees right now are unemployed. Our government is in chaos and disarray. Medicaid, Social Security, CFPB, and the list goes on and on.” And every elected official should echo James’s powerful words: “I will not be silenced. I will not be bullied. I will not bend. I will not break. And I will not bow to anyone. No one is above the law, including the president of these United States.” We’ve got your back, AG James! We won’t be silenced or bullied either. We’ve never bowed to Trump in the 9 years we’ve been fighting him. Every day, we cut through Trump’s lies and propaganda to bring you the good news—while doing everything we can to make a difference. Since November, our massive Contact Congress campaign has sent 270,037 letters, and made tens of thousands of calls to push back against this regime. We are building momentum, but right now we need all hands on deck. Our work is 100% funded by our paid subscribers on Substack. We are completely independent—with no outside investors, and we remain ad-free. So if you haven’t yet, please join us as a paid subscriber today No matter how you subscribe, thanks for fighting for democracy. Onward! Scott |
