Donald Trump and his Wall Street billionaire buddies are still gunning for the U.S. Postal Service. That’s why we’re building the congressional support we need to pass the bipartisan resolutions that will make it clear that Congress will do everything in their power to stop Trump’s privatization plan cold. These resolutions -- H.Res.70 in the House and S.Res.147 in the Senate -- would officially declare that it is the policy of Congress to oppose privatization and ensure the USPS remains a public, independent agency. These pieces of legislation serve as a public warning shot to Trump, Musk, and every other greedy Wall Street crony circling the post office like vultures. We know how far Trump is willing to go. He’s threatened an executive order to fire the entire Postal Board of Governors and replace them with Wall Street loyalists. His MAGA allies have made it clear: they want to rip apart the USPS, sell off its most profitable parts, and abandon the communities who rely on it most. One way we can stop this scheme for good is to lock in congressional opposition now, before Trump gets another chance to make his move. We’ve already sent over 350,000 letters to Congress, delivered 234,426 messages to the Postal Board, gathered 1,500 personal stories, and most recently, driven over 140,000 messages demanding Congress pass these resolutions. Now, we need to organize, apply pressure, and flood Capitol Hill with voices from every ZIP code.
The USPS isn’t just a public service, it’s a constitutional promise and a lifeline. It delivers prescription medications, Social Security checks, ballots, and more. It employs over 630,000 people, including nearly 73,000 veterans--nearly 30% of whom are Black, and over 40% of whom are women. The post office is one of the most trusted public institutions in the country, and that’s exactly why Trump wants to tear it apart. With Wall Street billionaires already lined up to cash in, the USPS is in danger of being stripped for parts and handed over to corporations with zero interest in serving veterans, seniors, rural areas including many Indigenous communities and historically Black towns, or low-income neighborhoods. Passing these resolutions won’t happen overnight. It’s going to take resources to mobilize nationwide pressure, meet with lawmakers, deliver testimony from impacted communities, and expose the privatization agenda for what it is: a corporate power grab. We’ve stopped Trump before. We can do it again. Together, we will stop Trump’s privatization plan. - Annie Annie Norman (she/her)
