More Good News For Us That’s Bad For TrumpOnward. We all could use some good news after another week of the Trump and Musk madness. And that’s what I’ve got for you today. I hope it gives you a break from this chaos—even if just for a moment. Over the last 5 days alone, I was able to interview Pulitzer Prize-winning author Anne Applebaum, fmr. federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner, and fmr. US Rep. Beto O’Rourke. I’m excited to announce that my next interview is with the one and only Jessica Craven! It will be Monday at 4pm ET live, here on Substack. Yesterday, the Supreme Court paused Trump’s attempt to fire Hampton Dellinger, head of the agency in charge of whistleblower protection. This is the first legal dispute to reach the high court over Trump’s unconstitutional maneuvering, and it certainly won’t be the last. Also on Friday, a judge blocked Trump’s attempt to end government support for DEI programs. The injunction prohibits terminating or altering federal contracts related to DEI. Despite all-out pressure from the DOJ, and Trump declaring himself “king” over the matter, a federal judge refused to dismiss the Eric Adams corruption case in New York City. The next phase in the case is set for March 7, when legal briefs are due. A judge also blocked DOGE from accessing Treasury payment systems. After winning the court order, New York Attorney General Letitia James promised: “We will keep fighting to protect all Americans from this administration’s destruction.” US Sen. Elizabeth Warren brutally slammed Musk’s DOGE for dismantling the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, saying, “The CFPB is there to make sure that Elon's new project can't scam you or steal your sensitive personal data...This is like a bank robber trying to fire the cops, and turn off the alarms just before he strolls into the lobby.” During a meeting of governors at the White House yesterday, Trump threatened Maine’s Gov. Janet Mills with legal and political retribution, during the event. Refusing to back down to his ban on transgender athletes in school sports, Mills firmly replied that she would “see him in court.” The Associated Press filed a lawsuit against Trump Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich, and Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, for banning its journalists from presidential events. “The press and all people in the United States have the right to choose their own words and not be retaliated against by the government,” AP stated in its lawsuit. Most of this good news gets buried under the mountain of Trump and Musk’s garbage—but you can count on us to cut through the noise, and give you the truth. And we’re not just reporting the news, we’re doing something about it. Yesterday, when Senate Republicans shot down several amendments that would prevent cuts to Medicaid, we ran a “Don’t Cut My Medicaid” campaign, which trended #10 on social media—and garnered more than 300 million impressions. We will continue to use our social media network—which is one of the largest in politics—to fight back each and every day. We’re taking on DOGE, defending Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, and we just launched campaigns to save the CFPB, and defend the VA. Right after the election, I formed The Watchdog Coalition, which not only helps run these online campaigns. It also directs our contact Congress push, which has resulted in countless calls made, and more than 177,000 letters sent. Momentum is on our side, but we need all hands on deck. All of our funding comes from our paid subscribers, right here on Substack. We have no outside investors, and we remain ad-free. So if you haven’t yet, and you’re able, please join us as a paid subscriber today: No matter how you subscribe, thanks for all you do. Onward! Scott |
