My husband is a volunteer at a VA hospital and he is considered an unpaid employee. He learned that the hiring freeze includes new volunteers. In addition to driving veterans to medical appointments, he also feeds veterans in the dementia area. This whole situation is disgraceful.

I’m 63, served in the U.S. Army, house keeping at a VA Hospital, fiscal service at the VA, moved the the USPS as a letter carrier, moved to HR as Health plan coordinator, hiring, and benefits. Moved to passports, the to supervise Statistical programs for the finance department where I retired a couple of years back. All my friends are requesting retirement at the same time, meaning that all the knowledge that we pass to the new hires won’t happen breaking the chain of knowledge. I have employees that worked for me ten years ago, calling and writing to me explaining the situation and how their mental health is affected

I was fired the very same day I received an exceptional review from my supervisor. After the weekend, they offered my position to the summer student I was working with, for a much lower wage. He saw through their crap and rejected the offer.

This has nothing to do with theft, corruption, or efficiency. Firing whole departments before you can investigate inefficiencies means only one thing. Corporatocracy taking over the government. Services will be farmed out to private enterprise and consultants and you will double your debt and triple your inflation. It happened in Australia where in 4 years the debt went from 200 billion to over a trillion. These companies may be a little more efficient by cutting a few staff at the cost of worse services, but private enterprise operates for a profit, and after the profit was removed and the gravy they were skimming off the top it was unsustainable. Governments exist for one thing, to provide the services people demand. the goal of a government is to operate with a very small deficit that doesnt affect service quality. That way they are getting slightly less tax dollars than they thought needed to provide services but have managed to do it without affecting services. Stupid people think a surplus is a good thing, a profit. but government differs to private enterprise. A surplus is bad, it means they are taking more of your tax dollars than they need to do the job.

Americans, please stand up and defend your democracy, before it's too late! A similar thing has happend to us in 1948, 1968... Please learn from our mistakes! We are with you!
