There’s a chance you’ve seen me on the news recently talking about Pete Hegseth, Donald Trump’s pick to serve as the next Secretary of Defense.
My two cents?
I don’t think Hegseth could pass a background check to be a babysitter, let alone Secretary of Defense.
Besides not having the experience for the job, it is insane that Donald Trump wants a man who admits he paid off a woman who alleged he raped her to lead the Department of Defense.
Hegseth has also gone on the record saying we “should not have women in combat roles.” Whoever leads our Armed Forces should at least be able to understand that we wouldn’t be able to go to war without the over 225,000 women serving on active duty today.
Simply put, Hegseth’s nomination is a slap in the face to the men and women who serve our country, especially after the progress we’ve made in the past decade to fix sexual misconduct issues in the military.
Let me be clear: It would be malpractice to confirm Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense—and his confirmation would put our nation in danger.
Thank you. It’s important that we use our collective voice to reject Donald Trump’s dangerous cabinet picks.
Sincerely,
Tammy
