With all the chaos this week in Washington, Trump proved he still doesn’t have a clue about, well, really anything. Neither does his boss Musk. By tanking the bipartisan bill, Elon and Donald stirred up heavy Republican infighting in the House, or so it seemed. Not only that, but by rejecting Musk’s and Trump’s demands, Democrats demonstrated that they could be a mighty force to be reckoned with. But if you were to read corporate media’s take, that’s not the impression you would walk away with. Almost every major news org spun a story to soften the blow for Trump and Republicans. NBC News ran the headline: “Congress avoids shutdown but leaves ‘a big mess’ for Trump and Republicans in 2025.” Congress didn’t leave a mess, Trump and the GOP did. USA Today went with: “'Enough blame to go around': Republicans, Democrats point fingers after near shutdown.” I think we all know Republicans are to blame here. AP printed: “Government shutdown is averted just after deadline as Congress rejects Trump’s debt limit demands.” Fox, CBS, NYT, Reuters and so many others used similar titles. It wasn’t Congress—it was Democrats who rejected Donald’s demands. Other outlets said the GOP were heroes for standing up to Trump. And a few even tried to paint this as a major win for Donald. How bonkers is that? WaPo said: “Republicans averted a shutdown, yet showed boundaries of Trump’s power.” You’ve gotta be kidding me. CNN actually went with: “US averts shutdown as Trump sets the stage for his presidency.” Like he flexed and saved the country. In reality, Democrats held their ground, the GOP caved, and Donald suffered another humiliating defeat. Corporate media has been pandering to Trump since the moment he came down that ugly golden tinfoil-looking escalator, and now they have shown their bias extends to the whole GOP. This is another great reminder as to why we must support independent journalism focused on truth-telling, and driven by facts. We’ve been fighting Trump and calling corporate media out for more than 8 years now, and no matter what happens—we will never stop. We’ve already sent more than 67,000 letters to Senators demanding they oppose 9 of Trump’s horrible cabinet picks. And we are just getting started. You can count on us and our Watchdog Coalition to cut through the noise. While making a tangible difference, every single day. Onward! Scott Help us call out corporate media:
