Congress is hurtling toward another important government funding deadline — and Republicans are targeting the IRS for major cuts yet again. And ever since then, Republicans who count the wealthy and corporations among their biggest donors have tried to chip away at IRS funding from the IRA and weaken the agency. Unless Congress acts now, $20.2 billion of IRS funding will remain out of reach to the agency. If that happens, the IRS will be much less likely to catch wealthy tax cheats and hold them accountable. Thanks to investments from the Inflation Reduction Act, we’re already seeing major improvements to the IRS:
If Congressional Republicans have their way, the IRS won’t be able to continue these service improvements or continue cracking down on ultra-rich tax cheats. Thanks for taking action, George |
