The Day After
I fought MAGA on January 6, 2021. I fought MAGA during the 2024 election. I am ready to fight again.
I will remember where I was when I found out that Donald Trump won the 2024 election. That night brought back memories of the day I defended our nation’s Capitol Building while Donald Trump’s supporters tried to kill me and my fellow officers, and destroy our nation’s democracy in the process.
After that day, I vowed to make sure that Donald Trump and his allies never saw the halls of power again. I worked overtime over the past several years to inform the general public about the dangers of MAGA and worked with candidates to ensure they were empowered to defeat their MAGA opponents.
On Tuesday, we had some victories, but our nation also suffered the ultimate loss. And, as a result, Donald Trump will take office again on January 20, 2025.
The only difference–on January 6, 2025, four years after Donald Trump tried to block the peaceful transition of power, Vice President Kamala Harris will certify the results of the 2024 election and will ensure that our nation’s democracy stands strong.
Now, it is our turn to fight back. My vow to America remains the same that it was on January 6, 2021–I will not let Donald Trump and his allies tear apart our constitution. Over the next four years, I will use my voice to resist the actions of the Trump Administration and to uplift the next generation of leadership in our nation.
I know you are scared. I know you may feel hopeless.
I want you to know that I have not yet begun to fight.
