This has been quite a turbulent time. We all hoped for a different outcome on Election Day, but here we are, ready to confront more chaos, conflict and bigotry from a president-elect bent on demolition. It’s why some among us have chosen to disengage from politics altogether.
But if you’re reading this, that doesn’t include you: You recognize what’s at stake if we don’t resist the coming onslaught, together. I am grateful if you are a long-time reader or you have recently joined the America, America community—in fact, we are growing at an accelerated pace.
The level of engagement for my essay the day after the election about what we do now was heartening. I hope some of you found it helpful as you thought through what “forward” looks like. I also was heartened by the engagement of last Saturday’s prompt, “What Are You Qualified to Do?”—particularly because the 230-plus comments demonstrated how interesting this community is and how robust we can be if more of you become paid subscribers and participate in the ongoing dialogue throughout the week.
