Longtime state Rep. Susan Williams Gifford dies of cancer at age 64

BOSTON — Rep. Susan Williams Gifford of Wareham has died, a spokesperson announced Wednesday morning.
Gifford, the House minority whip who represented Middleboro, Carver and Wareham, died of cancer Tuesday, the spokesperson said, and passed peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was 64.
