Pennsylvania Supreme Court delivers win for voters
In a win for voters, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that counties must count provisional ballots cast by voters whose mail-in ballots were rejected for missing an inner secrecy envelope. The Republican National Committee (RNC) wanted to disenfranchise these voters.
In Pennsylvania, mail-in ballots must be submitted with an inner secrecy envelope inside the return envelope. "Naked" ballots — votes submitted without the secrecy envelope — are rejected. Today's ruling ensures voters will have a chance to cast a ballot that will be counted.
Numerous absentee ballots in Philadelphia rejected due to minor errors
Over 1,200 mail-in ballots have been rejected so far in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania due to issues with signatures, dates and secrecy envelopes. Impacted voters can get a replacement ballot or vote provisionally in person to ensure their vote is counted.
An important reminder for Pennsylvania voters: don't forget to sign and date your ballot return envelope and include the inner secrecy envelope.
Texas and Georgia Republicans push noncitizen voting narrative
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) sued the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, claiming that the federal agency has failed to provide the state with information to verify the citizenship status of over 450,000 voters.
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) revealed today that an audit, which he announced back in July, found 20 noncitizens out of 8.2 million registered voters in the state. Nine voted before ID checks were in place and 11 registered but never cast a ballot.
