Canadian crooner Michael Bublé celebrated his 49 years on Monday. He is this week’s reason to smile. The multiple Grammy winner is credited with repopularizing the Great American Songbook. Bublé has been called a modern day Frank Sinatra, a moniker he is happy to shoulder, as he told me when we sat down in 2016. I remember being impressed by his impressions of his musical heroes, like Sinatra, Dean Martin, and even Johnny Cash (in a duet with me!). Bublé has had numerous hits covering classics, such as “Feeling Good.” In the song’s video, he channels retro vibes and James Bond. He told me that while he loves singing standards, he is most proud of his songwriting. One of Bublé’s most popular originals is the infectious love song “I Just Haven’t Met You Yet.” Bublé is taking on a new role this fall, as a coach on “The Voice,” making this season’s group of judges an eclectic bunch. He joins country superstar Reba McEntire, pop sensation Gwen Stefani, and Olympic commentator and rap star Snoop Dogg. Good luck, Michael! |
