New Lawsuit Filed Against the USDA
The Animal Legal Defense Fund has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and its Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) for issuing an exhibitor’s license under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) to Yellowstone Bear World, an Idaho drive-thru facility with decades of known violations of state and federal law. The Animal Legal Defense Fund released a report showing that consumers care about what goes into the food products they purchase, but are not able to accurately discern whether a product contains animal-derived ingredients based on current U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) labeling requirements.
