Trump’s Project 2025 goes after the environment

As the Republican National Convention wraps up this week, it’s a good time to take a closer look at Project 2025 — Donald Trump’s big polluter blueprint for a second term in the White House. Project 2025 was written by oil and gas industry insiders and former Trump administration officials. It doubles down on Trump’s record as the most anti-environment, pro-polluter president in history. And Trump's pick for vice president, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, has praised the plan's "good ideas," including severely limiting the government's ability to enforce our environmental safeguards. That's no surprise — he has an abysmal 0% lifetime environmental voting record score from our friends at the League of Conservation Voters. Make no mistake, Project 2025 is a direct attack on clean air and water and on the progress the Biden-Harris administration has made expanding clean energy, creating millions of jobs, and tackling the climate crisis. Project 2025 would: Gut President Biden’s landmark climate law, the Inflation Reduction Act, and crush the clean energy revolution it’s sparked Roll back climate and public health protections by tying EPA’s hands and letting polluters off the hook Give billions to oil and gas companies and let them “drill, dill, drill” on public and protected lands, including the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge Exacerbate environmental racism by stopping efforts to protect communities of color from environmental and public health risks Reject science by prohibiting the use of scientific facts and data to drive regulatory, enforcement, and legal decisions in the EPA and across the federal government And that’s just a start. We endorsed the Biden-Harris ticket because this administration has been the most pro-environment and pro-climate action in U.S. history. Protecting and extending that legacy is our top priority, so defeating Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, and their Big Oil CEO backers is job No. 1. We are obviously following discussions about the Democratic presidential nomination, but nothing will change about our commitment to keeping Donald Trump and J.D. Vance out of the White House and the devastating Project 2025 from being implemented — and to do that, we need to win this election.
