Sumner Tunnel Centennial Project - Virtual Public Information Meetings, June 11 & 12

This is a reminder that the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will be closing the Sumner Tunnel/ Route 1A south (connecting East Boston/ Logan Airport to Downtown Boston) from July 5, 2024 – August 5, 2024 as its multi-restoration project continues. There will be additional weekend closures both before and after this month-long closure.

On June 11 and June 12, MassDOT is hosting two virtual public information meetings to discuss the upcoming full closure of the Sumner Tunnel and the steps the public can take to reduce the closure’s impact on their commute. This tunnel restoration project will impact abutters and regional traffic. All residents, abutters, local business owners, and interested commuters are invited to attend. Meeting attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and offer comments. Both meetings will provide the same information. Holding two meetings is an effort by MassDOT to accommodate everyone’s schedules as best as possible. Spanish and Arabic interpretation will be available at the meeting.
